    EP91 :Japanese Challenge 4: When You Don’t Feel Well

    Today’s episode is another Japanese Challenge! 🇯🇵 We’ve been talking about medical Japanese in the last few episodes, so today we’re going to use some of those expressions in a short, everyday story. Kono 3 episode de benkyou shita kotoba o tsukatte, nihongo dake de hanashiteimasu. You’ll hear expressions like: Choushi ga amari yokunaiI’m not feeling very well. Hanamizu ga deruI have a runny nose. Me ga kayuiMy eyes are itchy. Kaze-gimi kamo shiremasenI might be coming down with a cold. Kusuri o nondara, nemuku narimashitaI took some medicine and got sleepy. Itamidome o nondeimasuI’ve been taking painkillers. First, listen to the Japanese at a normal speed. Then we’ll review some key words and expressions, listen to the Japanese again, and finish with a quick Japanese-English check.     Today, we’re going to learn some useful Japanese for buying medicine at a drugstore in Japan. In the last episodes, we learned how to talk about common symptoms.In this episode, we’ll use those expressions in a real-life situation: buying medicine at a Japanese drugstore. You’ll learn useful phrases like: Sumimasen, kusuri o sagashiteimasu.I’m looking for some medicine. Atama ga itai desu.I have a headache. Netsu ga arimasu.I have a fever. Hanamizu ga demasu.I have a runny nose. Dono kusuri ga ii desu ka?Which medicine would be good? Ichinichi ni nan-kai nomimasu ka?How many times a day should I take it? Ikkai ni nan-jou nomimasu ka?How many tablets should I take at a time? Shokuzen desu ka, shokugo desu ka?Before or after meals? Nemuku narimasu ka?Will it make me sleepy? We’ll also talk a little about buying medicine in Japan and some questions you may hear from pharmacy or drugstore staff.     EP84 Japanese Only Challenge 3: My Daily Life

    In this episode, it’s another Japanese Only Challenge! This time, I’m talking about my daily life in Japanese. First, listen to me talk at a normal speed. Then, I’ll say it again and introduce some useful Japanese words and expressions from the episode. You’ll hear lots of everyday Japanese phrases like: mezamashi o setto suru — set an alarmokoshi ni kuru — come to wake someone upasagohan o tsukuru — make breakfastgakkou no junbi o tetsudau — help someone get ready for schoolkodomo-tachi o gakkou ni okuru — take my children to schoolsentaku ya souji o suru — do the laundry and cleaningkaimono ni iku — go shoppingyuuhan no junbi o suru — prepare dinnerkodomo-tachi o mukae ni iku — go pick up my childrenofuro ni hairu — take a bathhamigaki o suru — brush my teethkodomo-tachi o nekaseru — put my children to bedThese are very common combinations, so try to remember them as whole phrases!
