Dear Church | Riots and Revival | Pastor Jamie Kemp

Acts 19:1-20 What happens when the Gospel takes hold of a city? In Acts 19, we see the Apostle Paul arrive in Ephesus, a strategic city known for its wealth, influence, and worship of Artemis. Over three years, Paul makes disciples, plants a church, and sees the Gospel spread throughout the region. And what begins with revival eventually leads to a riot! The story of Ephesus reminds us that God can use ordinary people in strategic places to accomplish extraordinary things. Strategic Settings: God has placed us in strategic places and relationships for His purposes. Our workplaces, families, neighborhoods, and city are opportunities to make a difference for the Kingdom.Small Starts: Paul started with the disciples he found in Ephesus. We often focus on what we don't have, but God invites us to start with what we do have. Don't despise small beginnings!Spiritual Growth: Paul's natural response was discipleship. He wanted people to know Jesus, receive the Holy Spirit, and grow in their faith. Discipleship should become our natural response when we meet people.Setbacks & Restarts: Paul's ministry didn't follow a straight line. Even when he faced opposition and was forced to leave the synagogue, he continued making disciples. The call of God is rarely a straight line.Significant Impact: What began with a small group of disciples eventually impacted an entire region. The Gospel spread so powerfully that the culture of Ephesus began to change.Three characteristics of a move of God: Signs & Wonders: We want to see the power of Jesus at work through answered prayers, healing, deliverance, and transformed lives.Sin Is Dealt With: Revival requires honest confession and genuine repentance. The believers in Ephesus didn't simply add Jesus to their existing practices; they surrendered the things that were pulling them away from Him.Society Is Changed: When the people of God begin living as the people of God, the world around them notices. The Gospel should make a difference in our homes, workplaces, schools, and communities.Mark 5 reminds us that Jesus transforms lives and then sends those transformed people back into their communities to tell others what He has done. MISSIONS MONTH l Bless the Generation l Pastor Vicus Kruger

Jesus chose us and appointed us to bear fruit that lasts (John 15:16). Our faith is not meant to stop with us. Psalm 78 reminds us of our responsibility to pass on God's faithfulness so that the next generation will know, trust, and follow Him. Ps. Vicus challenged us to move from Missing in Action to Mission in Action. Every believer has a part to play in God's mission, and our faith must be intergenerational. We can bless the generations through our words, our time, and our resources. Our words can encourage and shape others, our time is an opportunity to invest in people today, and our resources include what God has already placed in our hands—our skills, abilities, and life experiences. Just as Timothy's faith was influenced by his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice, our lives can leave a lasting spiritual impact on others. Support the show

MISSIONS MONTH l Bless the Nations l Pastor Christian Tan

Main Scripture: Revelation 12:7–12 Supporting Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 7:29–35; Romans 10:13–15; John 12:24–26 In Bless the Nations, Pastor Christian Tan reminds us that time is short and God's mission to reach the nations is urgent. Billions of people around the world have yet to hear the gospel, and God has called His Church to participate in bringing the good news of Jesus to them. Revelation 12:11 reminds us that God's people overcome the enemy through three things: the blood of the Lamb, the word of their testimony, and not loving their lives so much as to shrink from death. Jesus has already accomplished salvation through His sacrifice, but we have a responsibility to share that good news. This means moving beyond simply doing good works to speaking about Jesus, sharing our testimonies, praying, giving generously, and being willing to go wherever God calls us. The sermon challenges us to shift our perspective from "What can God give me?" to "What can I give God?" Following Jesus may require sacrifice, discomfort, and stepping out in faith, but we are reminded that the eternal impact of our obedience will be worth it. Part of a Life Group? Jeremiah 29:7 We’re not just called to be a church IN Jakarta. We’re called to be a church FOR Jakarta. In Jeremiah 29:7, God told His people living in exile in Babylon to do something unexpected: pray for the city and work for its peace and prosperity. They wanted to get out. God wanted to teach them how to live faithfully while they were in. And He calls us to the same kind of faithfulness today. We're not from here, but we're sent here. Our calling isn't to withdraw from the city, but to seek its shalom—its flourishing, well-being, and wholeness. Pray for Jakarta. Work for Jakarta. Love Jakarta. Mark 14:1-11 What if the things that matter most in life can’t be measured by efficiency or ROI? In Mark 14, an unnamed woman walks into a room, breaks an expensive jar of perfume, and pours it all out on Jesus. The room saw a "waste," but Jesus saw something entirely different: worship, devotion, and love. He called it Kalos—intrinsically beautiful. We often hold back because we look at what we don't have (money, influence, or the right platform). But Jesus simply asks: What do you have in your hands? Whether you’re encouraging a friend, showing up for your family, extending forgiveness, or serving your community—you have the ability to create the good and the beautiful. She did what she could. When Jesus takes His disciples to Caesarea Philippi—the center of pagan worship and what was known as "the gates of hell"—He asks a defining question: "Who do you say I am?" In the middle of spiritual darkness, panic, and uncertainty, Jesus declares that He is building His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. In a world full of opinions, noise, and circumstances we can't control, faith has to become personal. The god of panic does not get the final word because the Prince of Peace is here! You may not be able to control what is happening around you, but you can choose who is going to control what is happening within you.
