Beyond the Title Episode 1: Who Are You Beyond the Title?

Welcome to Beyond the Title. I’m so glad you’re here. This podcast was born from a question that has stayed with me throughout my life and leadership journey: Who are you beyond the title? In a world that often measures success by job titles, achievements and status, it can be easy to lose sight of the person behind the position. Yet our titles are only one part of our story. They tell people what we do, but they should never define who we are. Throughout my career as a nurse, midwife, educator and senior healthcare leader, I have had the privilege of meeting extraordinary people from all walks of life. Some have held the most senior positions, while others have quietly transformed lives without ever receiving public recognition. What they all taught me is that authentic leadership is not about position or power. It is about character, purpose, courage and the impact we have on others. Beyond the Title is a space for honest conversations about leadership, identity, purpose and becoming. Together, we will explore the realities that often remain hidden behind professional success: self-doubt, resilience, confidence, grief, failure, joy, faith, relationships, personal growth and the lifelong journey of discovering who we truly are. Whether you lead a team, a business, a community, your family or simply yourself, this podcast is for you. Each episode is designed to encourage reflection rather than provide all the answers. My hope is that you leave every conversation with something to think about, something to apply and the confidence to continue becoming the person you were created to be. Drawing on lessons from healthcare, leadership, psychology, coaching and my own experiences, I’ll share practical insights alongside honest reflections. From time to time, I’ll also explore how my Christian faith has shaped my leadership and my life. While my faith is central to who I am, this podcast is for everyone, and my hope is that people from every background will feel welcomed, valued and inspired. You’ll hear stories from my own journey, overtime conversations with inspiring guests and lessons learned through both success and failure. Together, we’ll explore what it means to lead with authenticity, compassion, wisdom and integrity in an increasingly complex world. More than anything, I hope this podcast reminds you that your value has never been determined by your title. You are more than your profession. More than your achievements. More than your qualifications. More than the expectations others place upon you. Leadership is not simply about what you accomplish; it is about who you become in the process. Thank you for choosing to spend your time with me. I don’t take your time or trust for granted. If these conversations encourage or challenge you, I’d love for you to follow the podcast, leave a review and share it with someone who might benefit. This is more than a podcast. It is an invitation to pause, reflect, grow and lead with intention. So, wherever you’re listening from, welcome. I’m Marsha Jones, affectionately known as MJ, and I can’t wait to journey with you as, together, we discover who we are-beyond the title.
