    Leaning on the Door: Ready to Go, Willing to Stay | David and Karin Brown

    “God, I want to go, if You’ll show me where and when.” For more than three decades, David and Karin Brown have lived with that posture—what they call “leaning on the door of missions.” Their ministry has taken them repeatedly to South Africa, where they have served through church planting, discipleship, church revitalization, and the training of pastors and ministry leaders. Today, that work continues as they equip leaders across Africa and the Middle East. In this conversation, David and Karin reflect on the calling that took them from a law career and a settled life in Pennsylvania to South Africa, the frightening experience that forced their family to decide whether they would stay, and the joy of watching the gospel transform people who are now discipling and preparing to reach others. They also discuss what decades of cross-cultural ministry have taught them about distinguishing what is truly biblical from what is simply familiar. Their story ultimately moves from being missionaries sent to South Africa to watching South African believers become missionaries themselves—a reminder that faithful missions is not about building a ministry around ourselves, but equipping others to carry the gospel forward. Many of these men and women serve in difficult and uncertain circumstances. Pray that they will remain grounded in Scripture and faithfully teach others what they are learning. Pray for believers and ministry students in the Middle East. David described students in places such as Jordan and Lebanon living and studying amid significant instability and disruption. Ask God to give them endurance, wisdom, and opportunities to continue their training and ministry. Pray for the next generation of African missionaries. South African churches are increasingly preparing and sending their own missionaries, including believers David and Karin have watched grow through local-church ministry and discipleship. Pray for these new missionaries as they prepare to carry the gospel into communities and countries where God is leading them. Pray for continued fruit through Seven Rivers Outreach. The ministry is serving a rural Zulu community through gospel teaching, discipleship, practical ministry, and a newly completed medical clinic. Pray especially for lasting spiritual fruit among those who must count a significant cultural and relational cost in choosing to follow Christ alone. Pray for wisdom for David and Karin in this next season of ministry. After decades of demanding ministry without an extended sabbatical, they are seeking to discern how best to use the years ahead.     Better Than We Planned: Trusting God When He Redirects the Way | Brandon Bell

    “What we have continually seen is that His will is so much better than what we could imagine for ourselves.” Brandon Bell and his wife, Gina, have served in the Dominican Republic for nearly twelve years, but that wasn’t where they originally expected God to lead them. Today, Brandon serves as a church-planting missionary in La Vega, working alongside a ministry team to evangelize, disciple believers, develop leaders, and establish a growing local church. In this conversation, Brandon reflects on four years spent preparing for a ministry in Brazil that never materialized, learning to trust God through unexpected redirection, and discovering that cross-cultural ministry often requires patient, relationship-centered faithfulness. He shares stories of families and young people coming to Christ, God’s provision for their church plant, and the joy of seeing Dominican believers begin reaching and discipling others themselves. Brandon also discusses team church planting, raising children on the mission field, and why missionaries need the prayers and encouragement of churches back home. Through nearly twelve years of ministry, Brandon has learned that following God does not always mean seeing the path ahead clearly. Brandon specifically asked prayer that God would bring men to Christ and add whole families to the church. Pray for open doors, boldness in sharing the gospel, and patient faithfulness as relationships are built over time.Pray for the children and young people being reached through the ministry. The church is preparing to restart its Bible club and is already transporting a growing number of children to services. Ask God to work in their hearts and to raise up future servants and leaders from among the young people being discipled today.Pray for God’s provision for transportation and future church facilities. The ministry is seeking funds for a van to transport children and has already received nearly half of its $30,000 goal. The growing church is also beginning to outgrow its rented meeting place, so pray for wisdom and God’s direction as they consider property for a future church building.Pray for continued fruit through discipleship and team ministry. God is already using believers in the church to invite others, study the Bible with them, serve in ministry, and bring people to Christ. Pray that this pattern of believers equipping and reaching others will continue until the church is increasingly led and served by mature Dominican believers.
