It’s what’s left of a small farming settlement in Cornwall, Connecticut — Dark Entry Forest, cellar holes, stone walls, and a reputation that got louder after the people left. Insanity. A bloodline curse from England. Children who walked into the trees and didn’t come back. A house that burned. Visitors who say the birds stop. Shadow figures between the trunks.     Episode 109: Connecticut Hauntings Pt. 1: The Haunting in Connecticut

It started as a family who moved into a former funeral home in Southington because their son was dying of cancer and they needed to be closer to the hospital. The basement still had the leftover tools of the taking care of the dead. Then the Warrens showed up and called it demonic. This is Part 1 of Truth Beyond’s two-part look at Connecticut’s ugliest paranormal stories. Hosts Josh and Frank unpack what the Snedekers said happened in the old Hallahan Funeral Home, why Ed and Lorraine Warren believed something worse than ghosts was already in the walls, and why the writer hired to tell the “true” story later said the accounts didn’t match. Frank isn’t just reading a case file here either. As a teenager he went through the house himself. He also sat in on an Ed and Lorraine Warren seminar.     Episode 108: Indrid Cold: The Man Who Smiled From Another World

    Send us Fan Mail On the rainy night of November 2, 1966, salesman Woodrow Derenberger was driving home on Interstate 77 near Parkersburg, West Virginia, when something blocked the highway. What stepped out was not the internet’s “Grinning Man.” According to Derenberger’s first account — given on local television within 24 hours — it was a normal-looking man in a dark coat. He smiled. He asked Woody to roll down the window. And he spoke without moving his mouth. This episode of Truth Beyond goes back to the original Indrid Cold encounter before the legend took over. We separate Derenberger’s roadside story from later claims about the planet Lanulos, repeated contact, and trips to another world. We look at why the case exploded thirteen days later when Mothman reports hit Point Pleasant, how John Keel folded Cold into a larger West Virginia wave, and how a separate New Jersey “Grinning Man” sighting got blended into the same face. We also cover the problems the story never escaped: no physical evidence, astronomy that doesn’t hold up, details that grew over time, almost no independent witnesses, and a TV prank caller who invented a Lanulos visit that Derenberger publicly confirmed.
