    Episode 6: Highs and Lows

    This week Lucy and Olivia discuss the highs and lows, focusing particularly on scans. The week before one, life narrows to a single question, and the news does not always follow a clear path. But, by developing strategies, and trying to maintain a balance when responding to good news or bad, there is a way through. Ultimately, with a stage 4 diagnosis, the aim isn't relentless positivity or bracing for the worst. It's finding a level you can hold.

    Ep 5: Finding a rhythm

    Shock and fear don't last forever. At some point the diagnosis stops being an event and starts being life. In this episode Lucy talks shares how she came to accept the terminal diagnosis and begin to find new meaning in her days. Olivia talks about what she put down to make room, the deliberate investment of time that rebuilt a closeness between them the years had thinned out. An honest conversation about acceptance, and what comes back when you stop bracing.

    Episode 4: Treatment

    We walk through the first day of treatment: the anxiety on the way in, and how Lucy prepared. Then, the nurses and staff who somehow make an extraordinary thing feel ordinary, and why that matters so much. And Lucy reflects on accepting that this is now a regular part of life, something she'll be doing for the rest of it.

    How do you tell the people you love that you have cancer? In this episode, Lucy talks about telling her children: finding the words, choosing the moment, and facing their reactions. We explore the huge range of responses that come when you share the news, from those closest to you to old friends, and how those reactions shift and settle over time.
