    "DOLLY"

hi! send us a note! LL+JJ “If you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain.” “Storms make trees take deeper roots.” And then there’s our personal favorite: “I’m not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb, and I’m not blonde either.” There really is nobody quite like Dolly Parton. This week on Married to Radio, we’re celebrating the songs, the stories, the rhinestones, the one-liners and, most importantly, the heart behind one of the most beloved people in music. Lois also takes us back to December 2004, when she got to see Dolly herself at Dodge Theatre in downtown Phoenix. More than 20 years later, the details may be a little fuzzy, but the memory of seeing that unmistakable voice, personality and presence in person certainly isn’t. We go all the way back to Dolly’s childhood in the mountains of East Tennessee, one of 12 children growing up with very little except a whole lot of love, music and imagination. We talk about her father and how his inability to read and write would eventually help inspire Dolly’s Imagination Library, which has now put more than 300 million books into the hands of children around the world. Through the songwriting and some of the incredible numbers attached to a career that has spanned more than six decades - including Grammys, milestones and the almost unbelievable list of accomplishments that come with the name Dolly Parton - we kept coming back to something that really can’t be measured. How she makes people feel. Story after story about Dolly seems to end the same way. People talk about her kindness. Her generosity. Her humor. How she remembers people. How she treats them. How she makes someone feel important whether there are 20,000 people in the room or just two. For someone with so many songs, awards, records and accolades attached to her name, maybe Dolly Parton’s greatest legacy has nothing to do with any of them. Maybe it’s simply this: People feel better for having crossed her path. Dolly the icon, yes, but even more, Dolly the human being. And if that isn’t something worth aspiring to, we don’t know what is. Come hang out with Lois & Jeremiah for 27 minutes of Dolly Parton stories, music memories, laughs and a whole lotta love for a woman who has spent a lifetime reminding us that sometimes you need a little rain to get the rainbow.  It’s a brand-new episode of Married to Radio.

"Two Goats & A Whole Lotta TV"

hi! send us a note! LL+JJ It’s Episode 7 of Married to Radio, and with seven being Garth Brooks’ favorite (and lucky!) number, we couldn’t let this one go by without giving the GOAT a little more love. We kick things off with a couple Garth stories that didn’t make last week’s episode, including Lois singing “The River” at her eighth-grade graduation and the VERY cool time she was interviewed for the 2019 A&E special Garth Brooks: The Road I’m On. She didn’t actually make the final cut... and once you hear the story, you’ll understand why. 😂 Then we go from one GOAT to another: Diana Taurasi. We were lucky enough to be there as her jersey was raised to the rafters in Phoenix, followed by an incredible celebration honoring one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Watching her documentary afterward sent us even further down the women’s basketball rabbit hole, and we learned SO much. And then... what are y’all watching?! 📺 We asked, you answered, and we’re talking TV. From Landman and Reacher to Ransom Canyon, Dutton Ranch, House of Stassi, Ted Lasso and more, our watchlists are officially getting out of control. Plus, football season is getting closer! EEEEEEEEEEEEK! LFG! Episode 7 runs a little longer than usual, and apparently we’ve stopped pretending we’re going to stick to 27 minutes. 😂 We’re just having too much fun. A HUGE thank you to Vince & Eileen, two of Lois’ longtime listeners, for this week’s intro and for helping us continue telling the story of what it really means to be MARRIED TO RADIO.  Two GOATs. A whole lotta TV. And Episode SEVEN. Let’s go! 🎙️💜🏀📺🏈

    "The Goat"

hi! send us a note! LL+JJ There are artists you love. There are artists you admire. And then there’s Garth Brooks. And for me, LL, the story really begins in Los Angeles in 2008. Garth played those record-breaking five shows in two days to raise money for wildfire relief, and I got to bring my parents along for what would become my very first time meeting him. Of all the things I remember from that day, one of my favorites is my mom talking to Garth about “More Than a Memory” and trying to explain the way the song made her feel. The word she landed on? Plaintive. And somehow, that one conversation became the beginning of nearly two decades of pretty incredible Garth stories. This week on Married to Radio, we’re looking back at a career’s worth of memories with the GOAT himself, and somehow, every story leads to another one. From Trisha’s Tailgate in Glendale to Mile High Stadium. From backstage hangs and unforgettable concerts to celebrating Garth’s historic seventh Diamond Award in Nashville in 2016. From Trisha Yearwood casually hand-delivering homemade Oreo brownies (because apparently that is a thing that can happen in real life) to our most recent Garth adventure together at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in 2024. But this episode is about more than the places we’ve been or the incredible access we’ve had. It’s about the relationships that got us there and the people we’ve been lucky enough to know along the way. A huge thank you to Mandy McCormack for kicking off this episode, and to Glenn Noblit, Bob Doyle and the entire Garth family who have been part of so many memories over the years. Now, with Garth heading back out on the road again, it felt like the perfect time to open the vault. The concerts. The backstage stories. The brownies. The friendships. The moments we still can’t believe we got to experience. This one’s for The GOAT. 🐐
