Latesha Lynch

The Slow Pour is Latesha Lynch's weekly podcast for Black women living fully — some episodes walk you through a full day lived as one of five Unbothered Types, some are her unfiltered take on joy, boundaries, and rest, and some are short rituals you can use right now. Nothing to prove, no fixing yourself, no "doing the work" — just honest conversations about choosing yourself without apology. bankedandbalanced.substack.com bankedandbalanced.substack.com

06- Creating A Life That's Too Good To Scroll Through

There's a version of you that shows up the second nothing is competing for your attention — and this episode is a full day inside her. Latesha walks through everything from her morning Ensure ritual (yes, really, and she'll tell you why) to a two-hour thrift trip so immersive she FaceTimed her mom mid-haul, to the walk where she spotted an owl for the first time in her life — and only because she was actually looking up instead of down at her phone. She's honest about the fact that presence doesn't come naturally to her. She's the queen of multitasking, and this episode isn't about being effortlessly Unplugged — it's about what it actually takes to protect twenty undisturbed minutes in a day built for constant disruption. In this episode: Why the small, everyday disruptions (Slack pings, YouTube ads, someone bumping your cart) add up to a day where you feel like you accomplished nothing A full, real walkthrough of a thrift store trip that required total, undivided attention The moment an owl appeared on a walk — and why she only saw it because her phone was in her pocket, not her hand What she tells friends who get frustrated that she doesn't answer texts during her most creative hours If this one moved something in you, leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify — or subscribe and drop a comment if you're watching on YouTube. 05- Be Your Own Gentleman For Joy

There's a version of care that only shows up when someone else decides to give it to you — and this episode is about refusing to wait for that anymore. Inspired by TikTok creator @sashaunswrth's concept of "Learning to Play Host to Yourself," Latesha builds an entire Joy Basket in real time: a curated, always-ready collection of exactly what she needs, anticipated the way a great host anticipates a guest's every need — or the way her own dad anticipates her mom's. You'll hear the story of a Bundt cake that made her cry (in the best way), the real reason she stopped waiting for other people to make her feel seen, and a full walkthrough of what's actually in her basket — snacks, drinks, comfort shows, nostalgic toys — and how almost every item traces back to a different Unbothered Type, whether or not it's hers. In this episode: The "play host to yourself" concept, credited to @sashaunswrth's original TikTok, and Latesha’s joy basket adaptation of the concept Why anticipating your own needs is the deepest, most honest form of love A full build-along of Latesha's actual Joy Basket, item by item How pieces of a Wanderer's basket can hold Sensualist, Ritualist, Nester, and Unplugged energy all at once If this one moved something in you, leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify — or subscribe and drop a comment if you're watching on YouTube. 04- Rest Is Now The Black Woman's Rebellion

There's a requirement hiding underneath Black Girl Magic and Black Excellence that nobody says out loud: prove your worth before you're allowed to rest. In this episode, Latesha traces exactly where that requirement comes from, what it costs the body to carry for years, and the viral video about a hospice facility that broke thousands of comment sections when she posted it. She also gets honest about the Soft Life era — what it promised, and the very specific, very expensive ways it let her down when she tried to actually live it. By the end, she names the real thing she built instead, and why she's calling this her Unbothered Era. In this episode: The shared, unspoken requirement underneath Black Girl Magic and Black Excellence What that pressure actually feels like in the body after years of carrying it Where the Soft Life era promised an exit and became a class and aesthetic performance instead The real, practical shift Latesha built for herself, post-2023 Why she's calling rest her rebellion now If this one moved something in you, leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify — or subscribe and drop a comment if you're watching on YouTube. 03- Living Like The Ritualist

You know her — the one who has a nightstand box for her supplements, a duffle bag with backup workout clothes living permanently in her trunk, and a coffee order that's non-negotiable even if it means driving ten minutes out of her way. Today we step into a full day as a Ritualist: the morning sequence, the objects arranged on purpose in every room of her house, and what happens when something as small as a parent asking for help with their phone threatens to unravel the whole thing. This one gets into the "ho bath" (you know exactly what that means), why predictability isn't extra, it's survival, and what it actually means to defend your pace to someone who thinks you're taking too long. In this episode: The morning ritual sequence, object by object, room by room Why disruption hits a Ritualist harder than almost anyone else The backup rituals for when the real ones aren't possible What to actually say when someone calls you "too much" about your own pace If this one moved something in you, leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, or subscribe and drop a comment if you're watching on YouTube.
