Mission: ReMission

Pillar Missions

Life is hard. But you don't have to walk through it alone. If you've ever wondered whether God still has a purpose for your life after failure... if you've wrestled with shame, fear, disappointment, anxiety, or just felt stuck... welcome. You're among friends. I'm David Leister, Executive Director of Missions at Pillar Ministries, and every week we have honest conversations about real life through the timeless truth of God's Word. Mission: ReMission exists to help people uproot the lies that have distorted their identity, plant the truth of God's Word deep in their hearts, recover hope, receive the help of the Holy Spirit, and live courageously on mission again. Life has a way of knocking all of us down. There will be setbacks. There will be losses. There will be questions we can't answer and storms we never saw coming. But that's not the end of the story. Jesus told us that in this world we would have trouble. He never promised a life without storms—but He did promise that we would never face them alone. He has overcome the world, and because of Him, we can face tomorrow with hope. Each episode combines biblical truth, practical encouragement, personal stories, a little well-timed humor, and memorable illustrations from everyday life and popular culture to help you grow in your faith and discover the life God created you to live. Whether you're rebuilding after a painful season, searching for a fresh start, or simply longing to know Christ more deeply, my prayer is that every episode leaves you with greater hope, deeper faith, and the confidence to take your next step with Jesus. Because what happened to you does not have the power to determine what God can do through you. No matter where you've been, what you've done, or what you're facing today, you are not forgotten, you are not disqualified, and your story is far from over. God is still restoring, still redeeming, and still calling you forward. So come just as you are—with your questions, your doubts, your scars, and your hopes—and discover the new life, lasting hope, and unshakable purpose found in Jesus Christ. Let's replace the lies with God's truth, rediscover the hope found in Jesus Christ, and learn what it means to truly live on mission again. Truth in. Lies out.

    The White Flag

Send us Fan Mail Why Surrender Makes You Stronger What if the strongest thing you could do right now is wave the white flag? We’re taught that surrender means defeat—that strong people push harder, hold tighter, and somehow figure it all out. But Jesus offers us a radically different kind of strength. He said, “Apart from me you can do nothing.” And yet Scripture also tells us, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” That’s not a contradiction. That’s the secret. In this episode of Mission: ReMission, David explores the surprising power of surrendering fully to Christ—not surrendering your dreams, purpose, or hope, but surrendering the illusion that you were ever meant to carry life alone. Because the white flag isn't always a symbol of defeat. In the hands of a follower of Jesus, it can become a declaration of freedom. If you’re exhausted from trying to control the outcome, carrying something you were never meant to carry, or simply wondering where your strength went, this episode is for you. Maybe it’s time to stop fighting in your own strength, raise the white flag, and discover just how strong you can become when your life is fully surrendered to Christ.   Receive the Word. Renew your mind. Resist the lie. Take the step. Possess the promise.  Each episode drives out fear and smacks lies with biblical truth and invites the listener to take one faithful step forward, because truth is not just something to know; it is a seed to plant, an identity to embrace, and a territory to possess.

    What Keeps You Standing?

Send us Fan Mail One of Manhattan's most iconic buildings is cracking from the inside. 432 Park Avenue rises nearly 1,400 feet above New York City. Sleek. Strong. Almost impossibly thin. A $100 million penthouse. The whole world admires it. But look a little closer... and you'll notice something: cracks. That raises a question bigger than concrete and architecture: what happens when the cracks start showing in us? In this episode of Mission Remission, David Leister uses the remarkable story of 432 Park Avenue to explore foundations, facades, character, and integrity — because you can build something impressive enough for the whole world to admire, but if what's underneath can't carry the weight, the pressure will eventually reveal it. Jesus said the wise man built his house upon the rock. So — what are you building your life on? We'll talk about the cracks we try to hide, the character nobody sees, and why success, influence, talent, money, and appearance can never substitute for a life firmly established on Jesus Christ. God isn't merely interested in making your life look impressive. He wants to build something in you that can stand. Truth in. Lies out.

    Plant it Forward

Send us Fan Mail What if your greatest legacy isn’t what you leave behind—but what you leave inside someone else? One seed of encouragement. One opportunity. One act of generosity. One person willing to say, “I believe in you.” What could God do with something that small? In Episode 7 of Mission: ReMission, David Leister explores the extraordinary power of pouring into another person—and how one faithful investment can ripple through families, communities, nations, and even generations. Through the biblical story of Barnabas, who saw a future in Saul when others only saw his past and gave John Mark another chance after failure, we discover a powerful Kingdom principle: you don’t have to control the harvest. You simply have to be willing to plant. David also takes you to Liberia, where seeds planted decades ago into children like a young Luther Tarpeh have produced fruit no one could have predicted—and introduces the opportunity to plant into a new generation of children through education, nourishment, discipleship, and hope. Maybe you don’t have a fortune to give. That’s okay. Generosity is bigger than money. You have time. Encouragement. Wisdom. Prayer. Opportunity. Influence. Your story. Your presence. The question is: What has God placed in your hand—and whose life could be different because you were willing to give it? This episode will challenge you to stop waiting until you have “more,” find your one, and start planting today. Because you may never see how far one seed travels. Plant it anyway. God handles the harvest. 🎙️ Episode 7: PLANT IT FORWARD Mission: ReMission — Truth In. Lies Out.

    Let the Seed Settle

Send us Fan Mail What if the reason you haven’t seen the harvest yet isn’t because God isn’t working—but because the seed is still growing beneath the surface? We live in an impatient world. We want the prayer answered, the breakthrough now, the dream fulfilled, the pain gone. And when nothing seems to be happening, it’s tempting to get anxious, question God, or dig up the very seed He’s asking us to trust. But Jesus taught us that the Word of God is like a seed. Plant it in the fertile soil of your heart, nurture it, protect it—and then let the seed settle. In this episode of Mission: ReMission, David explores the extraordinary power hidden inside a tiny seed and what it teaches us about spiritual growth. Before there is fruit, there are roots. Before there is a harvest, there is often a long season when God is doing His deepest work where nobody can see it. Maybe you’ve been wondering why you aren’t further along. Maybe you’ve prayed, believed, planted God’s promises in your heart—and you’re still waiting. Don’t confuse waiting with wasting. And don’t mistake God’s process for God’s absence. Plant one seed of truth. Then ten. Then a hundred. Then a thousand. Keep filling the soil of your heart with God’s Word, trust the Holy Spirit with the growth, and leave the timing of the harvest in the hands of the Gardener. You may discover that while you were anxiously looking for fruit, God was quietly growing roots strong enough to carry the harvest that’s coming. Plant the Word. Protect the soil. Trust the Gardener. Give it time. And let the seed settle. Truth in. Lies out. Your story isn’t over.
