    Episode 031: Are you prepared for what’s next

    The proverbs 31 woman was wise with her time, her talents, her resources and did well to set her family up to be safe when the unexpected happened. Last night I was triggered by something that flashed 3 of some of the most traumatic and life changing events in my past. And it all made me ask myself, “Am I prepared?” I’ve seen my mom become a single parent overnight and have to provide for three kids. I’ve seen friends become an overnight single mom (through death and divorce) and have to provide financially for their children when all they wanted to be was a stay-at-home mama. The unexpected happened unexpectedly. That’s just the reality. You’re never ready for loss or how grief will hit you. And the last thing you want to figure out is finding a job. Being prepared (not from fear but from wisdom) is setting you and your family up for the support you need when you can’t carry yourself. Let’s chat. Xoxo Abbi This is a public episode.     Episode 030: What has God called you to do?

    What has God called you to do? What little glimmers or seeds have been planted in your heart since you were young? What did God place you on earth to accomplish? How does He want to use you? Chances are, you have dreams or gut feelings about certain things but they can also feel maybe out of reach, too big, too impossible or even feel silly to say out loud. But that’s where God comes in to complete it. It’s not in our own strength but in His strength. That’s good news. I love this verse: Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.” -Zech. 4:6 Let’s chat more.     Episode 029: If you are praying for your child, here’s what I would tell you to do

    There is a battle raging for the souls of your children. Whether you want to believe it or you want to close your eyes to it, either way, it’s still happening. The enemy comes younger and quieter than you want to believe. Fight harder. Fight louder. Fight on your knees. And if you are praying for a child of yours in the thick of their struggle, I would tell you this: Show RADICAL LOVE to your child. They need to know they are loved by you and by God to hear everything you want to say. Call out sin, absolutely. But love them deeply in the battle. Pray this for your children: “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.     Episode 028: The biggest hill I will die on

    The biggest hill I will die on… All roads lead to Hell… except for One. Jesus is the only way the truth and the life. There is no other road to God. That’s why I won’t shut up about it. If you had loved ones in a house on fire and you knew every exit was blocked by something except for ONE, you would scream it at them to get out. Shame on you if you sat back silently because you didn’t want to offend them or you thought your opinion was personal or private. HELL NO. As a Christian, we are on mission by Jesus Himself to go into all the world and preach the good news. THERE IS AN EXIT POINT to the house on fire. His name is JESUS. But only Jesus. No other.     Episode 027: The God who redeems the broken women

    If you don’t already know this, I really really love the bible. We were reading the genealogy of Jesus in the book of Matthew this morning and it was full of rich conversations with my kids, along with powerful reminders of God’s hand in the lives of the broken, especially the women listed in the line of Jesus. God is the God who redeems the broken woman. He’s done it in my life and He’s doing it in yours. And often His method is through motherhood. Let’s chat about it! Xoxo Abbi This is a public episode.
