Ep 7 — How to Break the Negative Self-Talk Cycle (5 Steps That Actually Work)

Negative self-talk is one of the fastest ways to sabotage every goal you're chasing. And most people have no idea how much the thoughts running through their head every day are quietly attracting the exact life they're trying to escape. This episode is the tactical follow up to the solo episode on stopping the negative self-talk cycle. If that one was the why, this one is the how. We break down the exact five step framework I use with clients to catch a negative spiral in the moment, interrupt it, and rewire it into something that actually moves you forward. Whether you're stuck in a rut, spiraling in the middle of a hard season, or just tired of being your own worst enemy...these are the steps that work. You'll walk away with: The self awareness trigger you can use to catch yourself in the middle of a spiral before it takes over your whole day. How to use inverse thinking to flip a negative thought into a reframe on the spot. The journaling and brain dump practice that turns thought spirals into clarity. How to write and repeat affirmations that actually work (not the corny ones that don't). The rubber band pattern interrupt trick and how to use physical cues to break subconscious loops. Why your subconscious mind is looking for evidence to prove your negative thoughts right and how to feed it different evidence. The neuroscience behind why "neurons that fire together wire together" and why consistency is the only thing that flips the pattern. How to shorten the feedback loop so a spiral that used to last weeks starts to last hours. If you're serious about changing your mindset, your body, or your life, this is one to save, come back to, and actually put into practice. Ep 6 - How to Attract the Life You Actually Want

If you've ever set a goal, wrote it down, and then watched it die by the second week of January...you're not alone. Most people don't fail because they can't achieve their goals. They fail because they don't have a system for making those goals feel real to their brain. This episode breaks down the exact practice that changed my entire year. Vision videos. What they actually are, why they work on a neurological level, and how to build one that reprograms your subconscious mind to start attracting the outcomes you're chasing. If you're stuck in the same body, the same job, the same relationships, the same version of yourself year after year...this episode is going to give you a real tool that can actually change that. You'll walk away with: - Why your subconscious mind is constantly attracting evidence to prove your current beliefs right, and how to feed it different beliefs. - The four sectors of life to build your vision around: health, wealth, relationships, and self. - How to write your goals in a way that actually lands emotionally, not just intellectually. - The exact step-by-step process to record a vision video you'll actually want to listen to every day. - Why tonality and emotion matter more than the words themselves. - The full story of how I manifested my entire year, including a last minute solo trip to Australia that came together in 72 hours. - How this practice builds a level of self-confidence that no amount of external validation can give you. If you're serious about changing your life, this is one to save, come back to, and actually put into practice. Ep 5 - How To Break The Negative Self-Talk Cycle

If you've ever been stuck in a loop of negative thoughts, felt like you're in the middle of a storm, or watched everything in your life feel like it's crashing down at the same time...this episode is for you. Negative self-talk is one of the most underrated killers of the life you actually want. Most people don't realize how much the language they speak to themselves every single day is quietly shaping their reality. The words become the beliefs. The beliefs become the actions. The actions become the results. And then you wonder why nothing is changing. This episode breaks down why smart, high-achieving people fall into negative self-talk cycles even when they know better. How your subconscious mind attracts what you tell it to attract. Why the people who preach the best advice to everyone else are often the ones who forget to live it. And a framework you can use to start breaking out of the cycle one action at a time. You'll walk away with: Why your subconscious mind is looking for actions to prove your negative thoughts right, and how to interrupt that loop. The mindset shift high-achievers need to make when the goals aren't hitting on the timeline they wanted. How to catch yourself in the middle of a negative spiral before it takes over your day, week, or month. Why surrender and forgiveness are two of the most underrated tools for someone trying to change their life. A framework I use with every single client I coach that flips your identity from the person who doesn't follow through to the person who does. If you're stuck in a rut, in the middle of a hard season, or you can feel yourself slipping into the same old patterns, this one's for you. Ep 4 — He Lost 100 Pounds and Here's How He Actually Kept It Off (with Joseph)

Joseph lost 100 pounds. And unlike most guys who lose weight and gain it right back...he actually kept it off. In this episode, I sit down with one of my rockstar clients and a guy whose story is going to hit a lot of you listening square in the chest. Here's what makes his story different from most. He had already lost 40 pounds completely on his own before he ever hired me. Most guys would've called that a win, taken the picture, posted it on Instagram, and coasted the rest of their life. Joseph didn't. He knew he had more work to do, and he made the call that changed everything. 8 months into working together, he's down another 60 pounds. That's 100 pounds total gone from his body. He's eating pizza, burgers, pancakes, and sweet treats every single week. He's a macro wizard. He just came back from vacation shirtless on the beach for the first time in his life. And he's chasing a six-pack for next summer. We go deep on why "I should be able to do this myself" is the ego trap that keeps most guys stuck at half-transformed. The rock bottom photo he took in his bedroom the day he decided everything had to change. Why he told the doctor no when they wanted to send him to specialists for GLP-1 drugs and bariatric surgery. How he actually learned macros starting from "carbs are the enemy." Why reverse dieting scared the shit out of him at first and then became his favorite phase of the whole journey. If you've lost weight before and gained it back, this episode is for you. If you're down 20, 30, 40 pounds on your own and you know you need more, this episode is for you. If you're stuck telling yourself you should be able to do this alone, this one especially is for you. Ready to actually build it back with some 1:1 support? Ep 3 - Why This Relationship Wouldn't Have Worked a Year Ago (with Kayla Williams)

This is the most personal I've ever gone online. In this episode, I sit down with my girlfriend Kayla Williams to talk about our relationship, our healing journeys, and why this thing between us wouldn't have worked twelve months ago. Kayla is a fitness coach and podcast host based in Australia. We met through Brian and Cole's mentorship program, then crossed paths again in Morgan Nelson's inner circle. Now we live together in Bali. But a year ago, neither of us were the people we are today. I was still in the fog of my last breakup, still deep in self-sabotage. She was in her own bad spot doing her own work. This conversation is about how two people had to individually heal themselves before they could ever build something real together. We recorded this over on Kayla's podcast originally under the title "Healing Through Relationships." It went so deep I asked if I could bring it over here as episode three of Built Back. Here's what we cover: • How we actually met through mentorships (Brian and Cole's program, then Morgan Nelson's)• Why this relationship wouldn't have worked a year ago, and what specifically had to change first• The self-sabotage patterns that were running both of our lives before we did the work• Getting clear on exactly what you want, what you don't want, and what kind of life you're actually trying to create• How to start healing yourself — breaking your issues down piece by piece and fixing them one at a time• Why you can't heal in a relationship if you couldn't heal on your own• The signs you're actually ready for a real relationship (and the signs you're not)• What we both had to walk through in our previous relationships before this one was even possible• What it's like dating across time zones and cultures (I'm American, she's Australian)• Building a life while traveling the world together• The truth about dating in 2026 that nobody's saying out loud • Why personal development is the actual foundation of every real relationship If you're in a bad relationship, a breakup, or you're single and doing the work, this episode will hit hard. If you're in a good relationship and you want to understand why, it'll hit hard too. This one is different from the rest of the show. It's not a hot take or a training conversation. It's just two people who did the work sitting down and telling the truth. Ep 2 - The Real Reason Men Are Falling Off (with Jason Stewart)

In this episode, I sit down with my good friend Jason Stewart to go deep on men's mental health, personal development, and the biggest struggles men are actually facing today. Jason is a fitness coach who's been in the game longer than most and has coached hundreds of men through the same kind of transformation I've built my business around. We had this conversation on his podcast originally, and it went so deep I asked if I could bring it over here for episode two of Built Back. We talk about a lot of the stuff nobody wants to say out loud. Why so many high achieving men in their 30s and 40s feel completely lost. Why the guys who look like they have it all together are usually the ones falling apart the hardest behind closed doors. How limiting beliefs from your childhood follow you into your marriage, your career, and your body. And what it actually takes to rebuild your mindset when you've lost yourself in the climb. Here's some of what we cover: Why "publicly happy, privately rotting" is the default state of most men right nowThe real reason capable men fall off in their 30s and 40sHow to spot your own limiting beliefs before they cost you another decadeThe gap between the man you say you want to be and the man you're actually showing up asWhy most men can't ask for help and what that's costing themBreaking through the "what's gonna be different this time" mindsetHow to borrow belief from someone else when yours is goneWhat real personal development actually looks like versus the Instagram versionThe role of masculinity, fatherhood, and identity in fat lossWhat most fitness coaches get completely wrong about coaching menThis one is a conversation between two coaches who've done the work and coached hundreds of clients through it. It's not motivational. It's not fluffy. It's the real stuff. If you're a man who feels like you're falling off, this episode is for you. And if you love a man who feels like he's falling off, this episode is for you too. Ep 1 - I Donated Plasma to Pay For My Fitness Coach

I was so broke I donated plasma twice a week, eight times a month, to pay for my first fitness coach. That was January 2022. I was 203 pounds. I was hiding fast food wrappers from my roommates. I was Uber Eats-ing pizza at 11pm. I was the fitness guy on the outside and the guy rotting on the inside. This is the story of how I got there. And how I built it back. Welcome to Episode 1 of Built Back. I'm your host, Maximus Ramminger, founder of Gladiator Academy. This is the podcast for anyone who used to be the person they want to be again. Or honestly, anyone who knows they were never that person yet and they're sick of waiting. In this first episode, I'm going deep on my full story for the first time. Not the highlight reel. The real one. Here's what we cover: • Growing up on Cedar Lake in Wisconsin, and why I wouldn't take my shirt off at the pool from age 8 to 12• The blue t-shirt I wore every summer that became the first symptom of body dysmorphia I still deal with today• Being the perfectionist kid who carried every strikeout and every fumble for days• Finding V Shred in high school and running three 90-day cuts that broke me every single time• Why the rebounds after every cut were more violent than the discipline during them• Waking up during football's dead week at 17 years old and falling straight to the floor with sciatica• Getting the MRI that told me I might never squat or play football again• Learning the next step if I reinjured it was a spinal fusion, the same surgery my mom had lived with my whole life• How that MRI room was the darkest moment of my life to that point• Watching physical therapists and chiropractors light up when they helped me, and finding my future career in that room• Transferring to Oshkosh, getting clinical training hours, and falling in love with coaching for the first time• The dirty bulking phase in college that turned into full-blown binging• Hiding wrappers from my roommates, hiding wrappers from my mom• The Milwaukee photo on New Year's Day 2022 that finally broke me• The fat filter my friends put on our buddy Carter as a joke, and the day I started putting it on myself• Reaching out to Nick Justice, a coach I'd met drunk at a bar a year earlier• Being so broke I donated plasma twice a week to pay for coaching• Why plasma money was the first time I ever had real skin in the game• 110 days, 33 pounds lost, and the moment I looked in the mirror and saw actual muscle for the first time in my life• The one line Nick said to me that I now say to every single client I work with• Walking the beach shirtless that summer for the first time in my life• Meeting Brian Mark, finding an expiring bank account with almost the exact investment amount, and building Gladiator Academy• Why I'm doing this podcast, who it's for, and what to expect from every episode This show is for anyone who used to be the person they want to be again. If you used to be fit, confident, and dialed in, and somewhere in the climb of building a career, raising a family, or paying the mortgage, you lost yourself in the process, this show is for you.
