    Ignoring conservation office protocol, Evelyn returns to the Hargrave estate to question its new owners, Alex and Megan, about the late Eleanor Hargrave’s property records, while Jordan helps link the mysterious tree-cutting clues to possible timber poaching. But when a key piece of evidence disappears and a chilling warning appears, Evelyn realizes someone is watching her.     Seeking a fresh start in Turners Grove, former journalist and dog walker Evelyn Carlisle takes a job with the local conservation office, where signs of illegal tree cutting on protected land awaken her investigative instincts. After crossing paths with Theo Lambert, an enterprising walking tour guide, and wildlife biologist Jordan Bennett, who shares her concerns, Evelyn suspects someone is illegally cutting valuable trees and covering their tracks.
