THE CONVERSATION LAW ENFORCEMENT NEEDS TO HAVE (Part 3 of 3)

After nearly 20 years in law enforcement, I’ve learned that saving others doesn’t always mean you know how to save yourself. PTSD, anxiety, toxic leadership, and the pressure to keep pushing forward can take a toll that people never see. Sometimes, the hardest part isn’t surviving the job. It’s learning how to live with what the job leaves behind. In this episode, I open up about my personal struggles, how my service dog Jeules has helped me, the importance of therapy and support, and why we need real change in how agencies take care of their people. We train first responders to save everyone else. But who teaches them how to save themselves? We need leaders who lead with compassion, agencies that provide meaningful mental health resources, and a culture where asking for help isn’t seen as weakness. I’m sharing my story not because I have all the answers, but because I want the next officer to have better support, better leadership, and a better chance at healing. One person’s life can continue changing lives long after they’re gone. And if my story helps even one person speak up, ask for help, or lead with more compassion, it’s worth telling. 💙 You matter. You are enough. Be real—not perfect. 🎙️ Listen to Segment 3 of the Law Enforcement Workshop podcast. Real conversations. Real experiences. Real change. #MentalHealthMatters #PTSDAwareness #FirstResponder #PoliceLife #TikTokPodcast

What happens when leadership fails its people (Part 2 of 3)

What does it cost when officers are measured by numbers instead of the service they provide? I get deeper into my experiences in law enforcement—from toxic workplace cultures and broken trust to the leadership failures that can drive good officers away from a profession they once loved. We talk about the importance of accountability, integrity, communication, and resilience. Because being a leader isn't about controlling people. It's about earning their respect, listening when it matters, and being willing to get in the trenches alongside your team. But this conversation goes beyond leadership. I also share more of my personal journey with PTSD and anxiety, the impact of unresolved trauma, and what it was like to leave law enforcement after nearly 20 years. Sometimes, the hardest part isn't surviving what happens on the job. It's figuring out how to live with it afterward. For me, healing has meant finding new outlets, discovering unexpected purpose, and learning that asking for help isn't weakness. Here's the reality: good officers deserve good leadership, and the people behind the badge deserve to be treated like human beings. If you're a supervisor, ask yourself: Are your people growing under your leadership, or are they looking for the exit? And if you're struggling yourself, remember that you don't have to have everything figured out to take the first step forward. www.lawenforcementworkshop.com 🎙️ Law Enforcement Workshop Podcast — real experiences, honest conversations, and lessons worth sharing. #LeadershipBeyondRank #BehindTheUniformTruth #ResilienceInBlue #PolicingWithPurpose #BreakingTheSilenceLE

The Story Behind the Badge: My Journey Through Law Enforcement and Mental Health (Part 1 of 3)

This week, I'm doing something a little different. No guest, no interview just me sharing my story. After 20 years in law enforcement, I've learned that some of the toughest battles don't happen on the streets. Sometimes, they happen inside our own agencies, within our own minds, and long after we hang up the uniform. In Segment 1 of 3, I take you back to where my journey began: a childhood dream of becoming a police officer, the brotherhood that drew me to the profession, and the experiences that shaped the officer — and person — I became. I also open up about losing a friend and fellow officer to suicide, the guilt I carried, and what it was like to be expected to show up for duty when I was struggling to process a devastating loss. This conversation goes beyond calls, badges, and uniforms. It's about leadership, compassion, workplace culture, trauma, and the things we don't always talk about in law enforcement. For years, the message was simple: Suck it up, keep your head down, and do your job. But what happens when that mindset starts breaking the very people who live by it? I'm sharing my story because I hope someone out there hears something they need to hear. Maybe you're a first responder struggling silently. Maybe you're a supervisor trying to understand your team. Or maybe you're a family member wondering why someone you love has changed. Wherever you fit into this conversation, I hope you'll listen, share your thoughts, and help us change the conversation around first responder mental health. Because taking care of the people who take care of everyone else shouldn't be optional. 🎧 Listen to Segment 1 of 3 of the Law Enforcement Workshop Podcast. Let's start talking about the things we were taught to keep quiet. #BeyondTheBadgeStories #FirstResponderUnfiltered #BlueFamilyMentalHealth #LeadershipWithHumanity #BreakingTheSilenceCulture

Would you want to work with you? Part 2 of 2

In Part 2 of the Law Enforcement Workshop Podcast, Israel continues the conversation with Ryan Williams from the Fond du Lac Police Department as they dive even deeper into surviving trauma, rebuilding confidence, supporting officers, leadership, and what it really takes to build a strong law enforcement culture. Ryan opens up about returning to work after being shot in the line of duty, learning to work through fear, the friendships that came from tragedy, and the importance of organizations like C.O.P.S. and the Police Unity Tour. The conversation then shifts to the next generation of officers — from communication and financial wellness to mentorship, accountability, relationships, and the importance of not giving up on people. One of the biggest takeaways? “Would you want to work with you?” And when it comes to leadership, Ryan shares another powerful lesson:You don't know everything — and that's okay. Being willing to learn, challenge your own ego, have courageous conversations, and help others grow can make all the difference in a career. And to close out the conversation, one message stands out:It's a dangerous job, but that doesn't mean you have to do it dangerously. 🎙️ Law Enforcement Workshop Podcast

    When Law Enforcement Culture Matters

What happens when law enforcement officers are given the freedom to be creative, build relationships, and actually enjoy the job? In this episode of the Law Enforcement Workshop Podcast, Israel sits down with Ryan Williams of the Fond du Lac Police Department to talk about nearly 24 years in law enforcement, leadership, recruitment, department culture, creativity, and the importance of building a strong law enforcement family. From walk-up songs for new hires and monthly “Battleshifts” to creative recruiting videos and finding ways to keep officers engaged, Ryan shares how doing things differently can make a department stand out. The conversation also gets much deeper as Ryan shares his experience being shot in the line of duty, losing a fellow officer, the impact of trauma, Police Week, the Police Unity Tour, and why agencies need to be better prepared to support officers and their families after critical incidents. This is a conversation about culture, leadership, brotherhood, trauma, creativity, and taking care of your own. 🎙️ Law Enforcement Workshop Podcast
