    CGHD Reflections: Life After Yoda

Send us Fan Mail In the first CGHD Reflections, Chatty looks back at Episode 1, discovers the peculiar experience of repeatedly listening to his own voice, and explains why the main episodes of Chatty Geek, Hidden Dragon aim for that oddly specific 50-minute mark. There’s also a proper invitation to future guests: you don’t need to be a counsellor or psychologist. Bring a fictional character you care about, know far too much about, or simply cannot stop thinking about, and we’ll get curious about them together. Plus: the first listener character suggestion takes us towards Blade Runner, Roy Batty and Deckard enter consideration for the imaginary counselling room, and a deeply questionable new feature makes its debut: Joke of the Week. Reflections is the shorter, looser side of CGHD — a place for listener comments, questions, corrections, character suggestions, ridiculous tangents and whatever else happens between the bigger character deep dives. In this episode: What Chatty learned from recording and editing Episode 1Why CGHD's main episodes aim for around 50 minutesWhat being a guest on the podcast actually involvesRoy Batty, Deckard and a possible future trip into Blade RunnerHow listener comments and fan mail may appear in future ReflectionsThe regrettable rebirth of Joke of the WeekThoughtful, playful conversations about fictional characters, personal growth and the stories that help us understand ourselves. Yoda, Honesty, and the Weight of Wisdom

Send us Fan Mail What happens when the wisest person in the room no longer has all the answers? In the first full episode of Chatty Geek, Hidden Dragon, Chatty brings Jedi Master Yoda into the imaginary counselling room shortly after the events of Revenge of the Sith. With the Jedi Order destroyed and Yoda entering exile on Dagobah, we get curious about what might sit beneath centuries of wisdom: grief, responsibility, loss of role, uncertainty, vulnerability — and the strange experience of being the person everyone normally expects to have the answer. Then, through a counselling lens, we explore honesty and transparency. What does it mean for a counsellor to be truthful about what they know, what they don’t know, and the limits of their expertise? And could acknowledging our limitations sometimes make us more trustworthy rather than less? Along the way there’s meditation, martial arts, the difficulty of counselling somebody who is several hundred years older than you, and the important question of whether the counselling room has appropriately Yoda-sized furniture. Spoiler warning: This episode discusses events from Star Wars Episodes II, III, V and VI. CGHD uses counselling ideas for reflection and conversation; it isn’t therapy, diagnosis or clinical advice.
