    About The Hosts

June Matthews is the author of The Paranormal Is Real book series, where she documents over a decade of unexplained experiences that began after moving into what her family now calls The Reliving House. Living with Complex PTSD, June has spent years researching the connection between trauma, memory, perception, and paranormal experiences. Her books combine personal experiences, documented evidence, and conversations with professionals to encourage open-minded discussion rather than fear. Laurel Matthews, June’s daughter and co-host, has experienced unexplained phenomena for most of her life. While June approached the events as a skeptic searching for logical explanations, Laurel often recognized patterns that seemed paranormal from the very beginning. Their different perspectives create thoughtful conversations that explore difficult questions with honesty, compassion, and curiosity. Together, June and Laurel examine the intersection of trauma, healing, and the unexplained. Every story they share is true to their experience, and many of the events have been witnessed by family members, friends, and professionals who visited their home. Their mission is simple: to create a safe place where people can explore subjects that are often dismissed or misunderstood. Whether discussing Complex PTSD, childhood trauma, or paranormal experiences, they encourage listeners to ask questions, think critically, and know they are not alone. Because some episodes include discussions of childhood abuse, sexual assault, PTSD, and other traumatic subjects, listener discretion is advised. A content warning will always be provided before sensitive episodes.

When TRAUMA Opens the Door- Trailer

When Trauma Opens the Door Hosted by authors June Matthews and Laurel Matthews, this podcast explores the intersection of Complex PTSD, perception, and unexplained experiences. In 2010, June and her husband Jim moved into a home expecting a fresh start. At the time, both considered themselves skeptics. When unusual events began occurring, June’s first assumption was that someone was hiding in the house. Laurel, however, recognized many of the experiences as paranormal because she had encountered similar unexplained events throughout much of her life. As the experiences continued, the family began documenting everything they could through photographs, audio recordings, video recordings, and written journals. Many of these events were also witnessed by family members, friends, and visitors to our home, including professionals working there. June’s first book was inspired by conversations she shared online about experiencing "Reliving" episodes related to Complex PTSD. She was contacted by many people who said they had experienced similar episodes and had never heard anyone describe them so openly. Those conversations inspired her to write honestly about what "A Reliving" feels like, the trauma that created it, and the unexplained experiences that sometimes occurred alongside those intense emotional moments. The books combine those personal accounts with the documented audio and video recordings collected over the years. Our goal is not to tell you what to believe. We invite you to examine our experiences, our documentation, and our conversations while considering the many questions that remain unanswered. Mrs. Matthews wants to share the newfound hope she discovered in a part of life she never believed was real. Some episodes discuss childhood sexual abuse, trauma, and other sensitive topics. We will always provide a content warning at the beginning of those episodes so listeners will know in advance. Above all, we hope this podcast offers understanding, thoughtful discussion, and hope. Whatever your beliefs, you are welcome here. We invite you to listen with an open mind and decide for yourself. IS THE PARANORMAL REAL? Thank you for  Read more at: TheParanormalisReal.com
