    Colmore in Conversation Episode 8: Our Take on the Autumn Budget 2026

    With the Autumn Budget taking place last week, we naturally felt obliged to give our two pence on exactly what was discussed and, of course, share our thoughts and feelings about it all. For our latest edition of Colmore in Conversation, we have a panel consisting of three of our lovely financial planners: Katrania Lowers, Richard Meek and Aidan Bennett. All at different stages in their financial planning careers, each bring intelligent, well-considered perspectives on the latest Budget announcements. Many of us were expecting a little more to be said and a little more movement to occur. Kat’s expectations for action on student loans weren’t fulfilled, and Richard’s hopes for measures to address income tax cliff edges also went unanswered. So, in short, it was largely a budget with little real substance, as you’ll hear in the podcast. Although there haven’t been many dramatic proposals, Richard’s advice is we need to be glad that certain things haven’t changed … so take the rules that we’ve got and embrace them.     Colmore in Conversation with Tim Haywood: From the Boardroom to the Vineyard

    Welcome to another episode of Colmore in Conversation. This time, long-standing client Tim Haywood joined me to discuss careers and creating a fulfilling life where learning never stops. Drawing on decades of experience as FD of multiple FTSE-250 listed businesses, Tim reflects on also leading sustainability at a time when many saw it as incompatible with profitability. He explains why ethical practices and financial success can go hand in hand, offering a broader view of what makes a business successful. After years in corporate roles, Tim and his wife, Bev, began to question whether they wanted to remain in the same comfortable routine. That reflection led them to Astley Vineyard, where they have built a family business rooted in sustainability and a new sense of purpose. They now also run a consultancy, helping others move into new careers and pursue long-held ambitions. Tim’s insights are relevant at any stage of life - there is always a way to do the right thing while protecting your own happiness. In this episode Richard is joined as usual by Kat, and also Imran, our latest addition to our team of planners at Colmore. Many of you will be familiar with him, now in his 3rd month with us - but it seemed like a good opportunity to get him into the routine of openly sharing his opinions, as we all know that's something we like to do around here, as we continue to rant on our podcasts.
