    Stop Calling It Brotherhood If It Costs Nothing

    Send us Fan Mail Every man carries something, and some of what we’re hauling was never ours to pick up. Today we bring that question into the open, then we put “brotherhood” under a brighter light than most of us are used to. We go to 1 Samuel 18:1–4, right after David kills Goliath, and we watch Jonathan the crown prince respond to the man who just became a threat to his future. Scripture says Jonathan’s soul is knit to David’s, and we slow down to show what that kind of binding really means: covenant friendship, not casual vibes. This is biblical brotherhood for Christian men that holds up under pressure, temptation, and rivalry, because it is chosen and spoken, not merely felt. Then we get uncomfortably practical. Jonathan doesn’t just offer kind words he hands over his robe, armor, sword, bow, and belt, the symbols of his identity and rank. That’s the point: encouragement is good, but words alone are cheap.     The Easiest Way To Get Stupid Alone

    Send us Fan Mail Isolation does not usually announce itself. It whispers, “Skip it,” “Don’t reply,” “You’re busy,” and before we know it, we have built a life where nobody is close enough to challenge our thinking. Today we sit with Proverbs 18:1 and let it say what it says: the man who isolates himself seeks his own desire and breaks out against all sound judgment. That is not just about feeling lonely. It is about how a Christian man’s judgment can bend when there is no brotherhood nearby to bring clarity, correction, and encouragement. We slow down on the uncomfortable part: isolation is often a verb, not a victim story. We talk about the pull toward comfort, preferences, and doing life our own way, and why that posture quietly pushes wise counsel out of reach. We also make an important distinction for spiritual health: solitude is not the sin. Jesus withdraws to lonely places to pray, and rest can be faithful.     How To Leave A Church Without Burning It Down

    Send us Fan Mail You can spot problems at church and still have no idea what to do next. Do you stay and serve, confront and wait, or leave and move on? We take that question head-on, using 2 Timothy 1:13-14 to frame the faith as a “good deposit” entrusted to you, not something you get to spend, improve, or edit. Guarding sound doctrine isn’t reserved for the smartest guy in the room or the man with the right degree. It’s a Spirit-empowered responsibility for regular men who want to be steady, useful, and unmovable. We also go to Jude 3 and talk about what it means to contend for “the faith once for all delivered.” That pushes back on the idea that Christian truth is endlessly adjustable, and it helps you test preaching and leadership without turning into a bitter critic. Then we lay out three real outcomes that cover most situations: stay and strengthen when things are thin but honest, ask hard questions and watch the leaders’ posture over time, and leave rightly when the gospel is compromised or leadership sin is being covered instead of confronted. Even when leaving is necessary, we talk about how to do it without a campaign, without social media fires, and without drifting into “no church.” We close with a clear warning and a clear charge.     When Godliness Has No Power

The terrifying question we sit with today is simpler: are we seeing any real change? We walk through Paul’s warning in 2 Timothy 3, especially the line that lands like a punch: “having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.” We talk about “morphosis,” the outward shape of faith that nails the silhouette Christianity is supposed to have, while quietly rejecting the expectation that the Holy Spirit actually transforms people. That’s the subtle trap: we don’t deny the gospel with our doctrine, we deny it by treating it like information instead of power, by settling into years of learning without arriving at truth that changes how we live. We dig into 2 Peter 2 and Peter’s blunt warning that false teachers can rise up among you, not only “out there,” and they often smuggle destructive ideas in alongside things that are true. From there, we trace the engine Peter calls out: greed. Not simply money, but pleonexia, the craving for more. We talk about why “many will follow” means crowds are not automatic proof of health, and why spiritual leadership can become dangerous when people turn into inventory.     Would You Notice If The Gospel Lost A Piece?

    Send us Fan Mail A “different gospel” rarely sounds like open rebellion. More often, it sounds like something you’d happily share, because the name of Jesus is still there, the tone is still warm, and the message still feels positive. But if sin stops getting named, repentance stops being needed, and the cross stops being treated as real payment, the good news quietly turns into something else. That is the danger we tackle as we open Galatians 1 and listen to Paul’s unusually sharp warning to the churches: there isn’t a backup gospel, only the true one and distortions that borrow Christian words while changing the meaning.  We walk through why Paul goes so far as to say “even if we” or “an angel from heaven” preached a contrary message, that messenger should be accursed. It is a bracing reminder that authority doesn’t come from a platform, charisma, or credentials. The gospel is not validated by the preacher’s resume; the preacher is validated by faithfulness to the gospel. That framework gives you a clear lens for biblical discernment, evaluating sermons, and recognizing when a church’s teaching becomes incomplete without ever sounding anti-Jesus.  Then we name the pattern of subtraction: sin disappears, repentance fades, the cross becomes only a symbol of love, and Jesus gets reduced to a life coach.     How To Know If Your Church Is Drifting

    Send us Fan Mail A great sermon can stir your heart, but can you tell whether it is actually faithful to the text? This week, we're putting a ruler on the message we hear at church and asking a question that matters for every Christian man: are you carrying what God gave you to carry, or are you letting someone else carry your discernment for you? We anchor the conversation in Acts 17 and the example of the Bereans, the people Luke calls “more noble” because they received the word with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if it was true. That means testing teaching is not arrogance, not rebellion, and not a lack of respect for authority. It is a habit of humble submission to God’s Word. We also draw a hard line between two ditches: eagerness without examination turns into gullibility, and examination without eagerness turns into cynicism with a Bible open. Then we make it painfully practical. We give you a simple sermon review discipline: pull every Scripture reference from your notes, read each passage in context, and ask one question, “Did the text mean there what he said it meant there?” Do that for a month and you will never sit through a sermon passively again, because you are building real Bible study skill, real spiritual discernment, and real maturity that can spot church drift before it becomes a crisis.
