    How do you Evangelize in the restrictive culture of Babylon?

    In today's episode, we explore how the "culture of Babylon" tries to keep us from reproducing ourselves as Christians.  Implicit in the text was how Daniel and his three friends were made into eunuchs.  (I'm pretty sure you've never heard about that in Sunday school class.)  What does that mean figuratively and spiritually for us as believers?   How can we influence others for Christ in such restrictive, punitive environments?     The Context of Daniel 1: God Warns before He Judges

    In today's episode, we explore the ways of God.  Moses shared how if you want to know God, don't just look at his actions but seek to understand his ways.  The Bible tells us that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.   We explore how when it comes to sin and rebellion, God is longsuffering, and he gives ample warnings before he judges.   Since he demonstrated patience for his own people, the Israelites, we can be assured that he'll do it for the world of today.  But the thing is, he won't wait forever.       It's sad but the circumstances surrounding Daniel chapter 1--the Babylonian invasion, the temple being destroyed, the Israelites being taken captive into Babylon--DID NOT have to happen.  The big question:  How did Judah and Jerusalem get to this place?   How do Christians living in a humanistic society learn to embrace the righteous judgment of God?

    The Return of Theophilus: I'm back with a new vision and focus for the podcast!

    Hi Everyone,  In this episode, Theophilus returns back to the podcasting world!   It's been a long time since I last shared with all of you.  In this episode, I explain some of what I've been doing, the lessons I've learned, and a new format for the podcast.   It'll still be The Bible Mind Podcast, though, where we view everything from a Biblical mindset!   My goal is to create shorter, more focused episodes that center around one or possibly two central themes.  As always, most podcast episodes will be heavy on the Bible study but now with a new emphasis on life application.   In other words, my plan is to make Bible study easier to understand, more relevant, and more immediately practical to your lives, so that, hopefully, there'll be takeaways from each episode.   If you've already listened to me in the past, thank you!  I hope this new iteration of the podcast will have its own ways of challenging and enriching your lives.  If you're new to the podcast, welcome!  I hope you stick around for a while and receive the value of what comes from studying God's word.   Sincerely, Theophilus “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2, KJV)

    My Final Episode for A While!

    Starting from today, I'm taking a hiatus from creating new podcast episodes.  I don't know how long this break will last, or even if I'll come back and create new episodes.  It's really up to God.   In this episode, I share my reasons for doing what I'm doing.  I think this is a good time, because the seasons are changing, and God's working out so many things in my heart, including new priorities.  One major priority is to have the space and time to write a book.    I know this seems abrupt, but I've been thinking and praying about this for a few weeks now.  When I started to record today's podcast episode, I found myself speaking what I didn't intend to say.  That happens, sometimes, when God has a different message to share through me.  If you're interested to find out why, please listen to the podcast episode.  For the time being, the completed episodes will remain.  Please feel free to listen to or review as many as you would like.  I'd  also encourage you to download episodes, so that you'll have them.   (Just know, I don't know how permanent downloaded episodes are in relationship to what happens to the podcast platform.  I also don't know how long my podcast platform will be active.)     Do We, Sometimes, Come Across as "Too Christian" to Build Rapport and Relationship with the Unbelievers in Our Lives?

    (I'm back!  We're returning to this podcast episode, after taking a break last week.)  Today, we are taking a break from our Revelation study.  I talk about an issue that will touch the lives of most believers.  It's an  issue God has been working on in my heart and life.  I work in the marketplace, and with people who don't know God.  How do I relate to them?  How "Christian" can I be and still build a relational bridge with these people?  Or must I hide my Christianity to even give the relationship the start it needs to grow into something meaningful where my life touches their lives? How can we expect people to listen to us, if they don't know that we care, and they can't identify with us? Do we, sometimes, use our Christianity as a barrier between us and them? I've prayed about this issue, and have asked others what they think about relating to unbelieving co-workers.   It's a fine line we have to walk between gathering around the human experience and finding common ground, versus being neutralized and succumbing to the worldly pressure around us.   I speak to these issues today from a heart that's still seeking out the right answers and the right balance.   I also mention some other things, but you have to listen to the podcast to find out what they are.   It centers around how we, as believers, deal with the secular things we find ourselves drawn to from time to time.  Is it a sin to like secular things, or is God showing us something about our hearts?   And how does all of this relate to building relationships with the unbelievers we interact with on a regular basis?     Revelation 25: How to Walk Humbly with our God, while Shining God's Glory! (1:16)

    **IMPORTANT NOTE:  Next week I'm not going to put out a podcast episode, since I'll be taking the weekend off for a special reason.  I'll resume the following week.  May you be blessed until then!   __________________________________________ Today, I'll go deeper into what it means for Jesus to be the sun (the greater light), and for us to be the moon (the lesser light), that reflects the sun's light.   Throughout history, even though people have bowed down to idols of wood, silver, and gold, the greatest temptation we have is to worship one another.  We are made in the image of God, and each of us is capable of shining a brilliant light that attracts others to us.   In the event that happens, what will we do?  What about when we find ourselves admiring or "idolizing" someone else for their gifts, talents, and abilities?  How do we navigate these issues? We will also discuss a right way and a wrong way to handle the light shining from our lives.  It's very important we understand the pitfalls, along with the things we can do to humble ourselves and have a right mindset.   This episode will help give us the understanding and tools to "walk humbly with our God," no matter how bright the light, or how great the praise!     Revelation 24: Jesus, You Shine Brighter than the Sun! (1:16)

    Today we talk about what it means for Jesus to have a countenance that shines like the sun in its strength.  Believe it or not, God has already laid out "stepping stones" of revelation of what this  means in the Old Testament.  We will explore some of these verses/passages in order to flesh out this multi-level revelation, and how it relates to our lives! In this episode, we continue to see how the Holy Spirit, Who wrote the Scriptures through human vessels, can connect dots for us in order to give us layers of revelation we may have never expected.  Listen to the podcast to learn more! REFLECTION QUESTIONS 1.  In your relationship with God the Father, how have you mostly seen His countenance towards you?  In other words, when God the Father looks at you, what do you see in His face?  (Happiness?  Delight?  Anger?  Upset?  Disappointment?  Sadness?  Pity?  Exasperation?  Etc.)   Why do you think this is so?  Where did you pick up on this idea of God's attitude towards you?  Reflect on your perception of how God views you.  What does it say about you?  What does it say about God? 2.  We discussed how God is mostly happy and delighted when He sees you.  If your perception of God from question 1 is different from this, then how will you correct your perception of God?  What verses and passages can you meditate upon to renew the spirit of your mind?  Consider how you can both receive and give a revelation of God's pleasure and delight in His sons and daughters in your interaction with others!  Moreover, His love for mankind in general.  3.  We talked about the Numbers 6 Blessing (Numbers 6:24-26) as a corollary passage to Revelation 1:16.  It's powerful!  Why do you think this passage was so important to God?  Important to the people of God?  How can having a revelation of the Numbers 6 Blessing change your life?     Revelation 23: Jesus' Sharp Two-Edged Sword: How the Word of God Speaks and Cuts Two Ways! (1:15-16)

    Today we'll talk about what it means for Jesus to have a two-edged sword come out of his mouth.   What are the implications for us and our study of God's word?  Jesus is the word of God made flesh, and the Bible describes the word of God as sharper than any double-edged sword.   In other words, those two edges can cut into us, and others as we wield it as believers.  Therefore, it'd benefit us to understand more about what it means for Jesus to be described this way.    Before we go into the meat of this study, I speak to a few issues that we had touched upon in previous episodes, such as EMF radiation, emergency food and water storage, and how to manage our money for potential hard times to come.  Listen to the podcast to learn more! REFLECTION QUESTIONS 1.  What would happen in your life, if there was an emergency crisis and a food shortage (among other things) at local stores?  Consider what you have in store, and if that would last you for the time that you need.  If not, how will you prepare more practically in this area for the future?  If you've already taken steps, what can you do to be further prepared?  Take a few more steps.  Put another puzzle piece into place.    2.   We discussed in this episode how God speaks in a multitude of ways.  Each son or daughter of God can (potentially) have his or her own personal, shared language with God, based on shared symbols.  Reflect on the ways God has spoken to you throughout your history together.  Have there been repeated words, pictures, numbers, etc. that have been meaningful to you?  If so, what are they and what do they mean?  How did you know it was God speaking to you in this way? 3.  Do you agree with the statement that Jesus has always spoken through parables throughout the Bible?  Why or why not?  4.  Have you ever gone on a treasure hunt through the word of God?  Maybe, God laid out a map for you and "connected the dots," so to speak, so you could better see and understand the big picture lesson.    If not, what do you think is restricting the free-flowing of the Holy Spirit to have access to your Bible study?  If so, then what can you do to sit before God again and set up similar conditions?  5.  The concepts shared in this episode are not commonly seen, taught, and/or received.  Therefore, they take time to connect to and establish in one's mind and spirit.  How can you sit with this teaching, so it can settle into your spirit?  In the future, if you catch the vision, how will you explain it to other people?
