At its heart is Ludo, a woman who seals herself in her apartment as her country erupts into violence, cutting herself off from the world for thirty years. This is not only a story about one woman's isolation but also about how the walls we build to protect ourselves can become the ones that imprison us.   In this first episode, I trace Ludo's story alongside my own, a quiet attempt to withdraw from the world during a trip to Lisbon, and the strangers, conversations, and moments that slowly cracked open the walls I had built.   What book found you when you needed it most?
