How Bad do you want it? and Why Part 1

Last Episode: "You Don't need perfect conditions to make progress" Staring: @jerromeb Series: "From Homeless to Homeownership" December 2024-December 2026 Core Message: "Desire may tell you where you want to go, but disciplined action, accountability, sacrifice, and your response to failure determine whether you actually get there" Next Episode: The Desire to Inspire Podcast 138 Recording Date: 06/10/2026 at 3:00am Upload Date: 09/10/2026 at 9:00 am About this episode: . Why desire in not enough . The Things you need to achieve success . Using the 7 Whys exercise as a starting point . How working against your excuses helps you . What can you do when things don't go to plan at times . There is a price now to always to be paid to get to where you want later . The response to failure determine the results you get in life (good or bad) Episode Key Takeaways: Desire is only the starting point. Wanting success isn't enough; you have to turn that desire into consistent action. Success requires more than motivation. Discipline, patience, accountability, sacrifice, and the willingness to keep going when things become difficult are essential. Ask better questions to uncover your real motivation. The 7 Whys exercise can help you move beyond a surface-level goal and understand why achieving it genuinely matters to you. Your excuses are obstacles you can work against. Instead of allowing circumstances, setbacks, or fear to determine your future, identify the excuse and take one action that moves you in the opposite direction. Failure doesn't determine your future—your response to it does. Things will inevitably go wrong. The people who make progress learn from setbacks, adjust their approach, and continue moving forward. Episode Key Action Points: Define what you want and write it down. Be specific about the outcome you're trying to achieve. Complete the 7 Whys exercise. Ask yourself “Why?” seven times to uncover the deeper reason behind your goal. Identify your biggest excuse. Write down the excuse that most often prevents you from taking action, then decide what you can do to work against it. Accept the price of your future. Identify what you need to sacrifice, change, learn, or consistently do now to create the life you want later. Create a failure-response plan. The next time something doesn't go to plan, don't quit. Ask: “What can I learn from this, what needs to change, and what is my next move?” Books to read in this episode: Atomic Habits by James Clear References: Using the 7 Whys exercise as a starting point: https://medium.com/@athirahsyamimi/asking-the-7-whys-to-get-to-your-truth-2707d743a818
