Beyond Black & White

Aahfiyah K. & Horyezon Sky

Hosted by Aahfiyah K. & Horyezon Sky Welcome to Beyond Black & White, where honest conversations meet different perspectives. Life isn't always black and white, and neither are the topics that shape our relationships, friendships, families, personal growth, and everyday experiences. Each week, we explore the gray areas of life through thought-provoking discussions that challenge assumptions, encourage self-reflection, and invite meaningful dialogue. Our conversations start with a topic—but they don't always stay there. Just like real life, one thought leads to another, stories unfold, perspectives shift, and sometimes the best moments come from the conversations we never planned to have. We don't always see things the same way—and that's exactly what makes the conversation worth having. We believe the best discussions happen when people listen with curiosity, speak with honesty, and leave room for different perspectives. Whether we're unpacking modern relationships, navigating family dynamics, discussing culture, or tackling the conversations most people avoid, our goal is simple: to create a space where people feel seen, heard, challenged, and inspired to think a little deeper. New full-length video episodes are released on YouTube, with bite-sized clips, behind-the-scenes moments, and more on Instagram and TikTok. Follow us on all platforms and join the conversation. So, pull up a seat, settle in, and join the conversation. Because life isn't always black and white. Welcome to Beyond Black & White.

What If Your "Personality" Is Actually a Survival Pattern?

What if some of the things you call your “personality” are actually patterns you learned to survive? In this episode of Beyond Black & White, Aahfiyah K. and Horyezon Sky have a deeply personal conversation about the experiences that shaped who they are today—and how some of those experiences can influence the way we communicate, love, protect ourselves, and navigate relationships. We talk about childhood experiences, the things we were taught growing up, family dynamics, how our relationship developed as mother and daughter, and some of the challenges we've experienced within our family and with each other. We also explore a bigger question: Do we sometimes mistake survival patterns for personality traits? Why do some people become overly independent? Why do others struggle to trust, communicate, or let their guard down? And how do we recognize the patterns we may have carried into adulthood without realizing where they came from? We get into the conversation around women reaching their full potential—and why some men may feel threatened by women who become confident, independent, and fully comfortable with who they are. This isn't about blaming our past or labeling ourselves. It's about understanding how our experiences can shape us, recognizing what no longer serves us, and deciding what we want to carry forward. As always, this is a conversation—not a lecture. We don't always see everything the same way, and that's what makes the discussion worth having. 👉🏾 TIKTOK: @BEYONDBLACK.WHITEPODCAST 👉🏾 INSTAGRAM: @BEYONDBLACK.WHITEPODCAST 👉🏾 Business Inquiries: AAFIYAH.HORYEZON@GMAIL.COM

The Friendships That Put Marriages at Risk

Can a friendship threaten a marriage without becoming romantic? In this episode of Beyond Black & White, we're unpacking one of the most overlooked conversations about marriage: the friendships that slowly create distance between spouses without crossing the line into infidelity. From best friends and coworkers to family members and emotional confidants, we discuss how healthy friendships can become unhealthy when boundaries are unclear, priorities shift, or someone else begins occupying the space your spouse should hold. Where should couples draw the line? Is emotional intimacy with a friend just as damaging as physical betrayal? And can a friendship with good intentions still put a marriage at risk? As always, we don't claim to have all the answers—we're simply exploring life's gray areas through honest conversation, different perspectives, and real-life experiences. 💬 We want to hear from you: Can a friendship threaten a marriage without becoming romantic?Should your spouse always come before your closest friends?Have you ever had to set boundaries with a friendship after getting married?Where do you think the line should be drawn?Share your thoughts in the comments—we'd love to hear your perspective. ❤️ Enjoyed this episode? 👍🏾 Like the video 🔔 Subscribe for more honest conversations 💬 Leave your thoughts in the comments 📤 Share this episode with someone who needs to hear it Because life isn't always black and white.
