Made Possible - Episode 3: Creativity and Craft "There's a lot of doom around AI, but ultimately, the differentiator is craft." - Jo Ridley In this episode, Rachel is joined by photographer and Framelines co-founder Josh Edgoose, and award-winning Creative Director Jo Ridley. We explore how the rise of AI is redefining (or not) the concept of craft, impacting the tools we use, and the way we create and collaborate. Guests Josh Edgoose is a photographer, creative and community builder whose work sits at the intersection of documentary instinct and joyful, colourful commercial storytelling. Based in the UK, he co-founded Framelines in 2020, an independent street photography magazine, YouTube channel and paid community. With nearly 1,000 members and 75K YouTube subscribers, the numbers speak to a real appetite for human connection, collaboration and analogue creativity. Framelines has become a reference point for anyone serious about the craft of image-making, featuring names like Martin Parr, Alex Webb, Roger Deakins and Sheron Rupp. Josh's eye for the authentic and the overlooked is what makes him an unusual voice in commercial photography - he brings the patience and intention of a street photographer into every brief, shooting an average of 2,000 photographs a week for the past decade. Jo Ridley is a Creative Director whose career began in some of the boldest rooms in British television, developing promos for the BBC, 4Creative and ITV across shows including Fleabag, Skins and Shameless. That grounding in character, story and emotion runs through everything she's made since. Now working as one half of the creative duo Jo + Alexia, she's delivered award-winning commercial work for Boots, Dove, eBay, Coca-Cola, Comfort and Heinz, at agencies including Ogilvy, Saatchi & Saatchi and JOAN Creative. A Central Saint Martins graduate, Jo moves with equal fluency across brand, culture and craft, and has never stopped making things outside of work, from podcasts to poetry to curating art for House of Vans. In this episode we cover: What 'craft' actually means in 2026 and why Jo argues that, while AI is a democratising tool, craft remains human in essence and we have to nourish our creativityJosh's take that craft, at its core, is collaboration and how AI has only sharpened his need to work with real peopleThe question of presence: what's lost when a photographer isn't the one behind the camera, witnessing the momentWhere AI demonstrates its usefulness, from trimming podcast audio to visualising a scamp - versus where it starts to hollow out the work and impact imaginationThe "morality" of using AI shortcuts, and where each guest privately draws their own lineWhy Framelines, Josh's print magazine, YouTube channel and 1,000-member photography community is proof of a hunger for analogue, in-person creativityJo's idea of "keeping your reference cup full": employing films, galleries, magazines and the world around you as the real fuel for craft 🎧 Listen on all major podcast platforms or watch on our youtube.
