    10. It Made Sense Until I Tried It

You know that business course, workshop, or strategy that sounded like exactly what you needed? The advice made sense. You were excited about the possibilities. You could already imagine how much better things would be once you put everything into practice. And then you actually tried it. Now you've got an unfinished course sitting in your account, a strategy that doesn't quite fit your business, or a website you somehow liked better before you followed all that advice. So what happened? IN THIS CONVERSATION In this episode of Pretty Organized, we're talking about the difference between hearing business advice that sounds wonderful and figuring out whether it actually works for us. We'll also talk about why we get excited about new opportunities, what an unfinished course can teach us, and how to recognize when a strategy isn't solving the problem we thought it would. Because sometimes the advice isn't necessarily bad. It just might not be the right advice for the business you're running today. A QUESTION TO TAKE WITH YOU Is there a piece of business advice you've been trying to follow that made perfect sense when you heard it, but hasn't quite worked the way you expected? Before you spend more time trying to make it work, think about what happened when you tried it. Was there something you needed to figure out first? Did the strategy require more than you expected? Or did you discover that the advice wasn't quite right for your business? Sometimes trying something is how we find out what actually needs to change. TAKE THE CLARITY CHECK If this conversation has you thinking about what your business actually needs from you right now, the free Clarity Check can help. It's a simple way to look at where you may be getting stuck in your business, what might be creating friction, and where it could make sense to focus next. 9. The Schedule You Never Chose

You can make your own schedule and still end up following an agenda you never really chose. Sometimes we sit down with the best intentions, plan everything we want to get done, and then reach the end of the week wondering why we couldn't stick to the plan. It's easy to assume we need a better routine, more discipline, or a better system. But before we try to fix ourselves, maybe it's worth looking at the schedule. IN THIS CONVERSATION In this episode of Pretty Organized, we're talking about the expectations, habits, and business advice that can quietly make their way into our plans—and how something can end up on our schedule without us ever really deciding it belongs there. We'll also talk about the difference between avoiding work because it's difficult and making important work compete with things that don't need our attention right now. Because being organized isn't just about finding a way to fit everything in. Sometimes it's about deciding what actually deserves to be there in the first place. A QUESTION TO TAKE WITH YOU **How much of your schedule did you actually choose?** You probably made the schedule yourself. But take a look at what's on it. Some of it may be exactly where you want your time to go. Something else may have been following you from week to week simply because, somewhere along the way, it became part of your idea of what running a business is supposed to look like. Before deciding you're bad at following a schedule, look at the schedule. And maybe ask why that thing is still getting your Tuesday. 8. Who Made That a Rule?

Sometimes the big idea isn't the problem. The problem is deciding the entire thing has to happen at once. I learned this while trying to relaunch my shop with five products. What started as an exciting idea for a collection quickly became a much bigger project, and eventually I had to admit that all of that work wasn't getting me to the thing I actually wanted: a finished product I could launch. The five-product idea wasn't a mistake. I just needed a different pace for building it. IN THIS CONVERSATION In this episode of Pretty Organized, we're talking about what happens when an exciting idea becomes bigger than your capacity to carry all at once—and how to adjust the plan without giving up on the vision. We'll also talk about the rules we quietly create for ourselves, why changing a plan can be a form of accountability, and what we can learn when reality has a few notes about the beautiful finished version we pictured in our heads. Because sometimes you don't need to want less. You just need to stop requiring yourself to build the whole thing at once. A QUESTION TO TAKE WITH YOU What have you made harder by deciding it all has to happen at once? You don't have to tear apart the whole plan. Look at what you actually want and what you've turned into a rule. The big vision may still fit you beautifully—it might just need more time than you originally gave it. Keep the vision. Change the pace. TAKE THE CLARITY CHECK If this conversation has you thinking about what your business actually needs from you right now, the free Clarity Check can help. 7. You Can't Start Your Business From the Finish Line

There's a version of our business we can picture where things feel a little more figured out. We know what we're selling, how we're marketing it, and which systems and strategies actually belong. It's tempting to try to get there as quickly as possible—especially when we're surrounded by people who have already built successful businesses telling us what they would do if they had to start over. But they wouldn't really be starting over. They'd still have their experience. IN THIS CONVERSATION In this episode of Pretty Organized, we're talking about why we can't make today's business decisions with experience we won't have until tomorrow—and why that isn't necessarily something we need to fix. We'll also talk about the overwhelm of being surrounded by other people's strategies and solutions, how something can be right for your business without being right for your business yet, and why the work you're doing now may be giving you the information you'll need for whatever comes next. A QUESTION TO TAKE WITH YOU What are you building because your business actually needs it, and what are you building because you've been told a successful business is supposed to have it? You don't have to rethink your entire business. Just notice what comes to mind. There may be something you're trying very hard to figure out that you don't actually need the answer to yet. TAKE THE CLARITY CHECK If this conversation has you thinking about what your business actually needs from you right now, the free Clarity Check can help. 6. The Part of Running a Business Nobody Puts on the Vision Board

I love a good vision board—the beautiful pictures, the big ideas, the money goals, and all the things we hope our businesses might make possible. What probably isn't on there is learning a course platform, figuring out the website, or doing all the other behind-the-scenes work that comes with making those ideas real. IN THIS CONVERSATION In this episode of Pretty Organized, we're talking about the relationship between the vision we have for our businesses and the work we take on to support it. We'll also talk about how easy it is to add more tools, systems, strategies, and work along the way—and why it can be helpful to remember what all of it was supposed to be helping us do in the first place. A QUESTION TO TAKE WITH YOU **What does the vision you have for your business actually need from you right now?** You don't have to turn the answer into a giant plan. Come back to what you're actually trying to build and notice what might genuinely help you move it forward. TAKE THE CLARITY CHECK If thinking about the vision you have for your business has you wondering what needs your attention next, the free Clarity Check can help. 5. When the Idea in Your Head Meets Real Life

An idea can feel full of possibility when it first comes to you. Then you begin creating it—and suddenly, the design isn’t working, the technology has limitations, and every decision seems to uncover another one. That difficult middle doesn’t necessarily mean the idea is wrong. It may be where you begin understanding what the idea actually needs to become. IN THIS CONVERSATION In this episode of Pretty Organized, we’re talking about what happens when an exciting idea meets the real work of bringing it to life. We’ll explore why an idea can change once you begin creating it, what unfinished versions can help you understand, and how organization can support creativity without trying to control it. Because being organized doesn’t have to mean knowing every step before you begin. Sometimes it simply gives your creativity somewhere to live while you’re still discovering what you’re making. A QUESTION TO TAKE WITH YOU What could help your idea feel supported while you’re still discovering what it wants to become? You don’t need to force your idea into a perfect plan. Consider what might give you enough space to return, continue, and pay attention to what the creative process is showing you. TAKE THE CLARITY CHECK If thinking about your unfinished idea has you wondering what needs your attention next, the free Clarity Check can help. 4. You're Not Starting From Zero Anymore

It’s easy to look at someone else’s big business win and immediately wonder what you’re doing wrong. But when something in your own business doesn’t go the way you hoped, you aren’t necessarily back where you started. You know more now. You’ve tried things. You have real experience to look at—and that changes what you can do next. IN THIS CONVERSATION In this episode of Pretty Organized, we’re talking about what happens when the results you want haven’t shown up yet—or when you get the result and realize you don’t want to keep getting it the same way. We’ll look at the experience you gain from creating and launching something, why the problems you’re solving can change as your business grows, and what can happen when you stop measuring your entire business against someone else’s visible result. Because even when there’s still more to figure out, you’re bringing everything you’ve already learned with you. A QUESTION TO TAKE WITH YOU What do I know about my business now that I had to learn by doing it? Think about something you’re trying to figure out right now. Instead of looking only at what hasn’t worked yet, notice what you understand, what you’ve already tried, and what you might do differently this time. You’re not starting from zero anymore. You’re starting from experience. TAKE THE CLARITY CHECK If thinking about your next step has you realizing you’re not quite sure what needs your attention right now, the free Clarity Check can help. 3. What If You Just Don't Feel Like Working Today?

Have you ever sat down to work on your business, looked at everything you planned to do, and realized you just don't feel like doing any of it? Some days we're focused, creative, and excited about our ideas. Other days, getting started feels surprisingly difficult. The harder part may not even be the work itself. It may be everything we start telling ourselves about what that kind of day means. IN THIS CONVERSATION In this episode of Pretty Organized, we're talking about the days when work just isn't flowing and why one unproductive day doesn't need to become a bigger story about who you are as a business owner. I also share what I'm noticing in my own business—from the small things that feel manageable on an ordinary day to what it looked like when I finally felt ready to launch this podcast, even though every piece wasn't finished. We're exploring what happens when we stop expecting every workday to look like our best one and give ourselves a little more room to respond to the day we're actually having. A QUESTION TO TAKE WITH YOU What would change if I stopped measuring every workday against my most productive one? You don't need to come up with a new productivity plan. Just notice what changes when one difficult day gets to be one difficult day instead of evidence that you're doing something wrong. TAKE THE CLARITY CHECK If you've been feeling stuck in your business and aren't quite sure what's getting in the way, the Clarity Check can help you look at where some of that friction may be coming from and find a next step that makes sense for you. 2. Making Your Business Easier To Come Back To

Have you ever sat down to work on your business feeling genuinely excited to create...only to spend the first twenty minutes trying to remember where you left off? You open a few tabs, look through old notes, remember something else you meant to do, and suddenly the time you had to create is being spent finding your way back. In this episode of Pretty Organized, we're looking at organization a little differently. What if getting organized isn't really about having the perfect planner, keeping everything tidy, or becoming more disciplined? What if part of its purpose is simply making your business easier to come back to? I'm sharing a realization I've had about my own systems and why I've stopped expecting my brain to remember every unfinished idea, project, and decision. We also talk about the difference between organizing your business and accidentally making organization another form of work. Because maybe the system itself isn't the important part. What matters is whether it helps you get back to the work you actually wanted to do. IN THIS CONVERSATION We explore what it feels like to start over every time you sit down to work, why too many decisions can quietly drain your creative energy, and how a little structure can help your business remember where you left off. We also look at why getting organized doesn't have to mean overhauling your whole business—and how something as simple as leaving yourself a trail back to your work can make it easier to begin again. A QUESTION TO TAKE WITH YOU What could you put in place today that would make it easier for tomorrow's version of you to begin? You don't have to reorganize everything. Just notice what comes to mind. TAKE THE CLARITY CHECK If you're not quite sure what your business needs from you right now, I created the Clarity Check to help you step away from some of the noise and check in with where you are. 1. The Business Friend I Couldn't Find

What does it actually feel like to build a business? We hear a lot about strategies, productivity, and marketing, but we don't often talk about the part where you're sitting at your computer with an idea you're excited about...and slowly start wondering if you're doing any of it the right way. In this first episode of Pretty Organized, I'm sharing why I created this podcast and the conversation I've been wishing existed for years. We'll talk about the pressure of trying to follow everyone else's advice, why preparing can sometimes become another way of avoiding the work that matters most, and how learning to trust yourself might be one of the most important business skills you'll ever develop. Because building a business isn't about having all the answers. It's about creating enough clarity to trust yourself and keep taking the next step. If you've ever felt like everyone else has a roadmap except you, I hope this conversation reminds you that you don't have to build your business alone—and you don't have to become someone else before your ideas are worth sharing. In this episode, we talk about: What building a business really feels like behind the scenes Why listening to too many voices can make you lose confidence in your own The surprising lesson I learned while preparing to launch this very podcast Why one thoughtful next step is often more powerful than a perfect plan What Pretty Organized really means to me Reflection for the Week Whose voice have you been listening to so closely that you've stopped hearing your own? Spend a little time with that question this week and notice what comes up. Your Next Step If you're wondering where to focus next, I'd love to invite you to take the Clarity Check.
