4 Stars to Love & 3 Stars to Hate in 2026

Understand the three annual afflictions and the four auspicious stars in 2026 in your home. So let's start with the annual afflictions first and the big one is called the Grand Duke. This affects just 15% of your home each year. The Grand Duke is always the same as the animal sign of the year so the Grand Duke this year, in 2026 is in the Horse area which is South 2 and the first thing that you need to know is not to sit directly opposite the Grand Duke. So if you are watching television in the evening or in your home office or at your office desk at work and are sitting opposite and facing the South 2 then you are offending the Grand Duke and this can cause you to feel quite defeated or maybe even cause an unexplained illness. Just be aware of this and use your compass when you're sitting at your desk or sitting in the evening on the settee. So the best thing to do is to sit with your back to the Grand Duke and you will be supported by him for the whole year if he is behind you and it's also a really good place for meditation and to visualize so an excellent place to have the Grand Duke behind you, so have the South 2 behind you.  Keep this area quiet and peaceful,no shouting or arguing. no renovations, no drilling or digging outside even or hammering a nail in the wall because the five yellow is in the South this year too and should be kept quiet anyway.  So it's just whether you are sitting opposite the Grand Duke and it could cause illness if it is activated. If your animal sign is opposite the Grand Duke this year, it's the year of the horse and the sign opposite is the rat,so if you are a rat just be extra cautious this year as well. If you are thinking about renovating, always check to see where the Grand Duke is for the next coming years just so you're aware of it. If you are going to renovate your home then never start or end where the Grand Duke is. Start in a different place and then move around and don't end where the Grand Duke is. The next one is called the Year Breaker and this always sits opposite the Grand Duke so we've just talked about the Grand Duke being in the South 2, so the Year Breaker for 2026 will be in the North 2. The Year Breaker can bring resistance or unexpected obstacles to the household, not just one specific person. Try to keep this area calm and quiet and avoid any major changes here or any confrontations of any kind in this area as well.  The third one is called The Three Killings and this is the last of the annual afflictions and it always flies into one of the cardinal directions so it's either the East, the West, the South or the North. So if it flies into the East area of your home, it will be when it's the year of the Ox, the Rooster or the Snake. If it flies into the West area of your home it will be in the year of the Boar, the Rabbit or the Sheep. In the South. it will be the year of the Monkey, Rat or Dragon and this year it flies into the North area of the home, as it is the year of the Horse so if it's the year of the Dog, the Tiger or the Horse then the Three Killings will be in the North area of the home. It is activated by any renovations, any loud noise, moving heavy furniture, anything like that when it's activated it can cause a lot of instability, losses or disruptions. So try not to create a lot of noise in this area, keep it very gentle, calm and control the energy in this area.  So let's get onto the four major auspicious stars of this year and tell you about the different areas that they fly into. So when they are activated they can help you increase your wealth, happiness and luck. They also help to balance out any of the negative stars of the year and help you to create positive energy in the home. These four stars are called the Sun star, the Moon star, the Fortune Virtue star and the Dragon Virtue star.   So let's start with the Sun star. It says in ancient feng shui, ‘when the sun arrives, all evil will subside’ so this star helps to disperse any negative energy. To activate this star, you must do the activation during the day because it's obviously the Sun star so between sunrise and sunset, use this area. This is in the Southwest 1 in 2026 and the Sun star is a powerful benefactor and it helps to neutralize the negative energy by cleansing and replacing it with positive energy in your home. Also encourages prosperity, protection and support from helpful people and it opens the way for valuable help and opportunities.  The Moon star is linked to entrepreneurs or anyone who is studying and it will help you with anything that you're involved in regarding increasing your wealth.  The Moon star can also help to neutralize any relationship problems and help to improve them as well. So this year the Moon star is located in West 2 in 2026 and with the Moon star it is best activated during the evening so sunset to sunrise. Now we have the Fortune Virtue star and it is in the East 2 in 2026 and it is associated with happiness, celebrations and good fortune.  It enhances any joyful occasions such as weddings, engagements, new ventures or business launches.  Using this area in East 2 of your home will help create harmony, positivity and appreciation.  The last one is the Dragon Virtue star and this is in the Northeast 1 in 2026 and this is the most valuable one as it can dissolve any negative energy that has been activated. So if you have accidentally activated the Grand Duke or the Three Killings, this will help to dissolve any negative energy and it also reduces the impact of any setbacks, challenges or difficult circumstances.  So these are the four auspicious stars and the best way to activate them in your home is to use these areas.  Any sort of minor renovations, rearranging or moving furniture around or even just giving a really good deep clean will just stimulate that energy in the area.  Putting up new photographs or pictures on the wall, making any sorts of changes to your home or even outside planting trees in that area of your home that continues into the garden. Just stimulate that energy and play music.  The Free Feng Shui Beginner's Kit is perfect If you've always wanted to understand Feng Shui but didn't know where to start. We’re Halfway Through 2026 — Let’s Refresh Your Feng Shui | Annual Flying Stars

Every year the new annual energy arrives with the coming of Spring on 4th February and it marks the true energetic start of the year. I don’t want to overwhelm you too much as I go through each star with you but it's important to understand your home first.  So if you know the compass directions of your home and the different areas then great.  If you don't, then I have created a free five day Feng Shui Beginner’s Kit explaining how to use a compass, map your floor plan and also to write in the directions of your home and guide you step-by-step using videos and downloads.  There's no catch at all,  I just want you to be able to understand the basics of how you can map out your home and know exactly the directions in your home. So when we talk about the things I post on social media, you're not gonna make a mistake, as you've mapped out your home, so every year you will know where the annual energies are and know exactly which areas to use and which areas to avoid. Once you have mastered the basics, you'll be able to make better decisions on where to place your bed, where to place your study desk and the areas to use and to avoid with regards to the annual flying stars.  So there's three main things that I just want to tell you before we start talking about the annual flying stars.  The first one is you don't need to use trinkets or anything like this, you just use the areas that are good and positive this year.  Use them for work, for making important phone calls, for family gatherings and parties. The second one is to avoid the negative areas.  This is really important because they can be quite nasty if they are activated. We'll talk about this in a minute but avoid the negative areas.  And the third one is to just concentrate on the areas that you use such as your main door, living room, kitchen, study or office, bedroom and also balcony, if you live in an apartment or a high-rise flat.  So let's start with Star 1 in the center of the home. This is the Nobleman Star.  Ideally use this area for helpful people and mentors, if you are facing challenges or looking for fresh ideas and it’s also a great place if you need to think strategically about something. This place is great for planning, reflection and also creative thinking. Keep the center of the home calm, balanced and peaceful to allow clarity and insight to flow naturally.  Star 2 is in the Northwest of your home and it is the Illness star. It could bring mental strain, emotional stress, delays or health related challenges.  In business matters, it may feel heavier and slower so avoid this area as it can create a lot of drama and toxic interactions. The best thing to do is to introduce metal elements in your home such as iron, copper, bronze or brass objects,  they could be trophies, metal plates or dishes. Using the metal helps you to reduce the negative energy and helps you to just focus on prevention and to reduce any health risks.  Star 3 is in the West of your home and this is the Argument Star, they all sound quite negative but bear with me because they get better! The Argument Star brings conflict, misunderstandings and disputes.  It can trigger impatience or tension especially in communication. The best thing to do is to introduce a fire element which ideally is a candle, to reduce that negative energy.  Each day I light a tealight that lasts about an hour, to soften that aggressive energy and it helps you to prioritize more harmony, listen to people and also increase that respect as well. If you're dealing with customer service, this is especially important because it will help to strengthen that customer service and diplomacy which are obviously essential in work. Star 4 is in the Northeast and this is the Academic Star and it supports learning, wisdom and personal growth. Success is possible here if you don't have any unresolved issues so any emotional or physical emotions may surface if you're working in this area.  Be honest with yourself and be willing to adapt, maybe you learn differently than other people so give yourself a little bit of grace and this area will give you the courage and self reflection to create long-term success in your studies. Star 5 or the Five Yellow is one of the annual stars that you must pay attention to. This can bring disruption, setbacks and maybe even potential danger if it's disturbed.  Renovations or anything groundbreaking in this area, drilling or hammering a nail in the wall and even loud music. If you have a neighbour in the South area who is having an extension built or even if there's a building site in the south area, this can all trigger the five yellow and activate it. At the end of the year in December, one of my neighbours had a tree in the South of my home in my garden and it needed to be removed and it was getting closer to the Chinese New Year on 4 February. I knew that in the South area was the Star 5 and if it wasn’t removed until after 4 February it would've triggered the Star 5 and that would've caused a lot of chaos. I would've had to put things in place for the rest of the year for that negative energy so it is really important to know where the South is in your home this year.  So eventually it did get removed in January, I was so relieved. If you haven't activated the South, the best thing to do is to suppress star five and suppress that energy with metal. I use 60 KG of metal weightlifting plates and I place them in the South and leave them undisturbed for the whole year.  You can dust them but don't move them. If this area has been disturbed with a renovation or you've done some building work in the South, the best thing to do is to use a six rod metal wind chime, make sure it's not made of even a small piece wood it must be all metal, so six rod metal wind chime and this will create the metal noise, which is a lot stronger than just the metal plates because of the metal noise that will help to override that negative earth energy.  Also if your kitchen is in the South and you use the kitchen to cook then use the six rod metal wind chime in there too because you are activating this area when you're cooking all the time. The next star we have is the Star 6 in the North area and this governs authority, leadership and career and where it can support discipline and structure instability may arise. So try and keep this area clutter free, calm and stable. Avoid any renovations, drilling or moving any heavy furniture and try to postpone any major decisions made in the area, signing a contract or maybe just impulsive commitments, avoid doing that in the north area of your home.  Star 7 is in the Southwest and this has a dual energy.  So positively it can support opportunities and networking but negatively it can bring arguments or even financial loss.  Use the space for connection and collaboration and try when you're in this area to be grateful and grounded and avoid any excess of any kind or any risky decisions. Star 8 is in the East area of the home is always the wealth Star, it helps support prosperity and opportunities through consistency and long-term vision as well. Perfect location for work, studying or even financial planning.  Focus on study and progress rather than quick wins as Star 8 is more concerned with long-term income goals rather than financial wins. Then we come to Star 9 and that is in the Southeast which amplifies success, recognition and future prosperity through effort and clarity.  Use this area for family time, creativity and for  joyful celebrations. This area is great for visioning and manifestation and it helps to nurture connection and play an optimism optimism and familyIf you want  The Free Feng Shui Beginner's Kit is perfect If you've always wanted to understand Feng Shui but didn't know where to start. Why Your Front Door Controls Your Opportunities

🎙️ Episode 1 — Why Your Front Door Controls Your Opportunities What if the energy outside your front door is affecting the opportunities coming into your life? In this first episode of the What The Feng Shui podcast, Vicki introduces you to Chi (Qi) — the life-force energy that surrounds us and flows into our homes. You'll discover why the quality of the Chi entering your home matters, and why your front door, balcony or window can be one of the most important places to start when looking at your Feng Shui. Vicki explains: What Chi is and how it worksThe difference between positive and negative ChiHow Chi enters your homeWhy the external environment around your entrance mattersWhat to look for when you open your front doorHow roads, trees, pylons, lamps and other structures can affect the energy coming towards your homeWhy the closer a negative feature is, the greater its potential impactSimple ways to block, redirect or neutralise negative ChiYou'll also learn why Feng Shui isn't simply about moving furniture around inside your home — the environment outside your home matters too. So take a look outside your front door, balcony or window and ask yourself: What kind of energy is coming towards me? This episode is a simple introduction to traditional Feng Shui and the first step towards understanding how your home and its surrounding environment can support you. Listen now and discover what your front door could be saying about the opportunities entering your life. Transcript  I’m so happy that you have chosen to listen today.  My name is Vicki and I’m the founder of What the Feng Shui.   In today's episode we are talking all about Chi and working with energy or Chi to support you and your home. You may see it spelt CHI or QI, but it is pronounced the same. Chi is the life force that exists everywhere and when it's strong it helps to support you but when it is weak,  it can become harmful. Chi flows from the outside and into your home, if it's strong then fantastic but if it's weak then it could cause bad luck or ill health. There are two types of Chi which are Sheng Chi  (growth Chi) or Sha Chi ( Killing Chi) We are aiming for your home to be surrounded by Sheng Chi so that it can enter your home and circulate around.  So how can I get Chi into my home?  The natural laws of Chi govern balance, harmony and movement. So think of Chi as a river, constantly flowing around and flowing from the high ground to the low ground. It will collect in open spaces and also is quite slow moving.  If you are surrounded by positive Chi,  you will feel optimistic, full of energy and confident but if you're surrounded by negative Chi then you will feel overwhelmed, tired and stressed.  What kind of Chi is entering your home? If you live in a house whether it's a detached, semi- detached, a townhouse or bungalow, you will receive Chi from the main entrance of your home that you use.  The door needs to connect from the outside environment to the inside of your home, so if you drive straight into your garage and enter through an interior door then this doesn't count as the main entrance. If you live in an apartment or a flat then the Chi will enter through your balcony or window rather than the communal entrance, as the Chi would have to go up the staircase or a lift, along the corridor and finally to your door, so by the time it arrived at your door it would be extremely weak.   So whether it's your main door, balcony or window you need to start assessing what is there. So when you look out, you can see an open space directly in front, this is called the Bright Hall, it's an open, well-maintained space that could be a garden or a park area, hills or a mountain, lake, river or a pond that's clean with flowing water. Does it contain healthy plants and trees, as these all produce positive Chi.  If your door, balcony or window is more cluttered with dead plants, leaves or rubbish then it can really be difficult for the Chi to enter your home. So make sure that you keep the entrance or your balcony clutter-free so that Chi can flow into your home uninstructed.  If you have noticed any negative features then these will produce Sha Chi or negative Chi which can be sharp, fast, overwhelming or stagnant energy and it is a lot more intense and strong than the positive Chi. So negative forms in front of your main door, balcony or window are things like electric poles, pylons, even lamp posts, any large buildings or structures that can seem to be pointing directly towards you or it could be a roof edge that can create negative energy. Also if there is a narrow gap between two houses or two buildings straight opposite you, this can create sharp, negative energy that will rush towards your home. If there is fast-moving traffic rushing towards your entrance or balcony, especially if you are on a  T-Junction, this will cause Sha Chi to enter your home. One solution would be if the road has speed bumps as that would reduce the speed of the traffic and also reduce the negative Chi.   Any rubbish or overflowing bins, blocked or smelly drains or dead or decaying plants also produce negative Chi so trying to improve these areas, even if it's just small things, will make your entrance more appealing and it will help to produce more positive Chi entering your home. Any dirty or stagnant water around your home could create negative Chi so if the water is not clean, fresh and also moving it will not produce the Sheng Chi (positive Chi) that you need to enter your home. The last thing you need to be aware of is if there's any large trees in front of your entrance.  If these are at the side of your home or on the side of your main entrance, it's fine but if you see a large tree as soon as you open your front door then it can be a problem. So the next thing you need to do, once you've assessed what's outside your main door, your balcony or your window, is to consider how close these objects, forms, lamp posts or pylons are to your home.  Are they near or far away?  Ask yourself,  if it fell over would it be close enough to damage my home?  So remember, we are just looking at the main entrance if you live in a house,  if you live in an apartment, it’s the balcony or a window.  So the further away it is the less of a negative impact it will have. But the closer it is, the more negative the Chi will be when entering your home and it can cause delays or blocked opportunities.  So there are certain things that you can do regarding these negative features.  You can block, by using an evergreen tree or climbers or a trellis and that will block the view and stop that negative Chi entering your home. A large curtain, shutters or a blind could also be used.  Another thing you can do is you could redirect, by using a different entrance or move your door slightly so that it isn't facing a negative form. I know it's a bit drastic but it can make a big difference if you have a really negative structure that you physically can't move and it will just deflect that negative Chi coming into your home. Another way is to neutralise the negative Chi.  We talked about this before with the really busy road.  So a solution would be having speed bumps on that road to slow down the traffic so it’s not as fast and creating negative Chi rushing towards your home. So check today, have a look outside your main door, your balcony or your window and check for any negative forms and have a look to see if you could change them in any way. And yeah that's all the different things that you can use to stop that negative Chi coming into your home and this is one of the most important things you need to assess in Feng Shui.  So if you want more Feng Shui tips and advice, follow me on social media @whatthefengshui and if you're ready for the next step check out my course The Feng Shui Blueprint and if you've enjoyed this podcast don't forget to like, share and subscribe  The Free Feng Shui Beginner's Kit is perfect If you've always wanted to understand Feng Shui but didn't know where to start. Welcome To What The Feng Shui

Welcome to the What The Feng Shui Podcast! Hi, I’m Vicki! My mission is to simplify traditional Feng Shui and make it practical and accessible, so your home becomes a powerful support for your health, wealth, relationships and life direction. With clear guidance and step-by-step blueprints, I help you align your space with your energy and your future — not just its appearance. My journey with Feng Shui began in my teenage years, when I discovered how deeply our spaces influence our wellbeing, our opportunities, and the flow of energy in our lives. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from several incredible Feng Shui Masters and my passion for creating harmony in the home has only grown stronger. Although the Feng Shui teachings were rich and meaningful, they could also feel overwhelming. To truly understand them, I began breaking concepts down into simple, clear steps. I created notes, guides, and systems that made Feng Shui easy to learn and apply in everyday life. As my children grew older, I realized I wanted to preserve this knowledge for them—and eventually, to share it with others who were seeking the same clarity. Today, I’m excited to offer those guides to you. My hope is that they help you create balance, abundance, and joy in your own home and life.
