Brain Cancer Diagnosis: What Comes Next? | The Fight We Didn't Choose S1E2

In Episode 2 of The Fight We Didn't Choose, Ryan and Beth Mulvey continue sharing their real-life journey through a Grade 3 astrocytoma brain cancer diagnosis — from the agonizing wait for pathology results to radiation, chemotherapy, recurrence, prognosis, caregiving, family, faith, and learning how to live with uncertainty. After brain surgery, Ryan and Beth were left waiting for answers. Was the tumor benign or cancerous? What would treatment look like? What did the diagnosis mean for their future? Ryan and Beth talk openly about receiving the Grade 3 astrocytoma diagnosis, the differences they learned about brain tumors, and Ryan's experiences with photon radiation, proton radiation and Temodar chemotherapy. They also discuss the physical toll of treatment, the fear surrounding prognosis and recurrence, and the realities that patients and caregivers face after a life-changing cancer diagnosis. But this episode goes deeper than treatment. Ryan shares the thoughts that entered his mind after being diagnosed: Will I see my children graduate? Will I get to walk my daughter down the aisle? How much time do we have? Beth shares the caregiver's perspective — protecting the person you love, carrying information and fears they may not always see, and watching life's ordinary moments differently after cancer enters your family. Through it all, Ryan explains the mindset that has helped carry him through this fight: stay positive, lean on your support system, trust in God, and live in the moment. The Fight We Didn't Choose is about more than brain cancer. It's about marriage, caregiving, family, faith, fear, hope, resilience and what happens when life changes without warning.
