What Does Love Look Like in Everyday Family Life? | Series: The Fruit of the Spirit in Everyday Family Life

It’s easy to show love when everything is going smoothly. But what does love look like when it isn’t? In this episode of the GOD Says So™ Podcast, we’re beginning with the first characteristic of the Fruit of the Spirit: love. Jesus said, “Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.” — John 13:34 (NLT) That gives us a beautiful standard for everyday family life. Our children don’t have to get everything right to be loved. And even in moments when they need guidance, correction, or boundaries, they can still feel secure in our love. But what about the moments when we don’t respond the way we wish we had? There’s grace there too. And Mom, here’s something I really want you to hear: Your child’s behavior doesn’t change your love for them—and your imperfect response doesn’t change Jesus’ love for you. We’ll look at how the Holy Spirit can help you pause in the middle of real-life moments and respond in a way that reflects the steady, unconditional love of Jesus. And you’ll leave with one short prayer you can use anytime frustration or impatience begins to rise. If you want your child to experience the love of Jesus not only through what you teach but through the way you speak, respond, correct, and reconnect, this episode is for you. Stay Rooted in Scripture. Live by What God Says. Pass It On.  ~ ~ ~ Follow the GOD Says So™ Podcast for short, Scripture-rooted encouragement every Tuesday and Thursday. What Is the Fruit of the Spirit—and How Does It Shape Your Everyday Life?

What does the Fruit of the Spirit actually look like in your everyday life—and what is your child learning by watching you live it out? In this episode of the GOD Says So™ Podcast, we’re looking at Galatians 5:22–23 and the beautiful truth that the Fruit of the Spirit is not a checklist you have to master. It is evidence of the Holy Spirit at work in your life. As you grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, your child gets to see what following Jesus looks like through the way you think, speak, and respond each day. We’ll also talk about becoming more aware of those everyday moments when the Holy Spirit is showing you where He wants to help you grow—and how even small shifts in your response can become meaningful examples of faith for your child. Becoming More Like Jesus: Where the Fruit of the Spirit Begins

Do you want your life to look more like Jesus—and your child to see what living by God’s Word looks like? The fruit of the Spirit does not grow through pressure or trying harder. It grows as we remain close to Jesus and depend on the Holy Spirit. In this episode, we’ll read John 15:5 together as I begin a new series called The Fruit of the Spirit in Everyday Family Life. We’ll talk about what it means to abide in Jesus, why He is the source of our spiritual growth, and how the Holy Spirit’s fruit begins to shape the way we think, speak, and live. I’ll also share a three-step practice I call: Pause. Pray. Respond. These three steps can help you turn to Jesus during the ordinary parts of your everyday life and trust the Holy Spirit to guide you. As you live out your faith, your child gets to see what it looks like to follow Jesus and live by what God says.
