    Brothers and Sisters Episode 21

Send us Fan Mail Paula and Larry are still in the South of Spain. Talked about the odd shift of the Mormon church getting away from Mormon and tying to come across as the same as the evangelical churches with frequent mentions of Jesus now, a new development, display of crosses on Google maps and in Church material. Talked about the  uproar caused by Pete Hegseth leaving the Mormons off the list of Christian denominations supported by military chaplains. Talked about our journey from true believer to doubting to sceptic to non believer ex-Mormon. Talked about Billy Ferguson early Mormon pioneer and the political significance of the Lee name in Utah politics.

Brothers and Sisters Episode 20 Discuss Second Coming and Death and Dying

Send us Fan Mail We catch up, Paula and Larry are still in the South of Spain. I recommend my recent read, Jack Holland's a Brief History of Misogyny. Misogyny is not what I thought, misogyny is actually quite a self hating philosophy denigrating all things physical and women happen to catch the blame. Plato and Aristotle were a couple of the thought leaders for misogyny, quite a surprise for me. Even philosophers can be quite fanatical in their self hatred.  Discussed how the math for temple work and the second coming doesn't add up, still an impossible to overcome task. And why if Jesus is coming back in power and glory does he need to avail himself of the money being hoarded by the Mormon church, will he be broke? Also discussed that though hard for many to accept, death is death and apocalyptic violent fantasies are actually harmful and in reality does not change what is the universal outcome of death.

    Brothers and Sisters Episode 19

Send us Fan Mail Paula and Larry are in the South of Spain on the Mediterranean. A lot of discussion about the long term impacts of parenteral alienation and how Mormon leadership uses their influence to encourage family alienation and how it really doesn't have to be that way. But high demand religions are going to grasp tightly for control as they lose relevance overall the extreme stances worsen. Talked about a few good books to read, Eli McCann: Stitched, and Jack Holland: Misogyny, a historical perspective on a very old prejudice and some of the intellectual and cultural roots to the phenomenon. Talked about living our best lives now, the time that we actually know about and some influence over.

Brothers and Sisters Episode 18 Travel Plans and Writing Style Discussed

Send us Fan Mail Light discussion. Miracle of Forgiveness bashing. Talked about writing for a wider audience and how holding back on being explicit might be necessary.

Brothers and Sisters Episode 17 Plural Marriage Revelation

Send us Fan Mail We discuss section 132 of the Canonical doctrinal text: the Doctrine and Covenants. Joseph tells Emma that she must accept plural marriage or be destroyed but she will still receive spousal support (he's not a monster after all). There are strong statements about eternal marriage and only happening on earth and not after death. Those not in eternal marriage will be ministering angels to those who have eternal/polygamous marriage. Really sells hard what is greatly de-emphasized by the modern Mormon church, Fundamentalist Mormons, according to the Doctrine and Covenants, have the larger Mormon Church dead to rights about being wrong about plural marriage. Interesting how the conflict is not actually resolved on a doctrinal level but the corporate messaging does a lot of heavy lifting while "spiritual" plural marriage remains the doctrine.

    Brothers and Sisters Episode 16

Send us Fan Mail We read from the Miracle of Forgiveness, actually the Miracle of Anything Other Than Forgiveness. We go on a rant about the evil policy perpetuated by Kirton McConkey telling Bishops that they do not have to report child abuse, you absolutely do not have to report, when the moral action is to report child abuse to civil authorities.

    Brothers and Sisters Episode 15

Send us Fan Mail We discuss high cost of living in the US. We read from the Miracle of Forgiveness and note how the book is not about forgiveness but is a very dark view of humans and how sins are never restituted in Kimball's view of the life. Sad really and disappointing, we comment how glad we are to be away from believing Mormon leaders and their hateful world view but feel sad for our friends and family who are still victimized by these judgmental unforgiving systems.
