Stop Giving Your Single Friends These Cliches

Send us Fan Mail Being single doesn't mean your spiritually lacking - and wanting marriage doesn't mean you're not satisfied in Jesus. In today's episode of Messy Middle Moments, we're talking about the Christian cliches we so often give our single friends: "Jesus should be enough", "just be content in your singleness", "find your identity in Christ". These statements can contain biblical truth, but sometimes they're used to shut down honest conversations about dating, disappointment, loneliness and the desire for marriage. We'll talk about the difference between wanting marriage and idolising marriage - because no they do not mean the same thing - why contentment doesn't mean never complaining, and how to know when a friend actually needs advice. Because sometimes your single friend just wants to complain about a terrible date without having the conversation turned into a spiritual diagnosis. An honest conversation about Christian singleness, dating, contentment, friendship and finding satisfaction in Jesus - without pretending the messy parts don't exist. Messy Middle Moments is a space for honest conversations about faith, friendship, singleness, change, purpose, trusting God and figuring life out. So whether you're in a season of waiting, making a big decision, navigating a new chapter, questioning what God is doing or simply trying to figure it all out - welcome to the messy middle Support the show This is Messy Middle Moments - faith, friendship & figuring it out
