Episode 9, Dr Monique Lewison, Journey of joy across different cultures

What if the moment you said yes to something unexpected became the beginning of the life you were meant to live. In this episode, Zofia sits down with Dr. Monique Lewison, veterinarian, author, and lifelong adventurer- to explore how one unexpected decision reshaped her entire life. From growing up between continents to building a career in a traditionally male‑dominated field (vet), Monique’s journey from the U.S. to Israel is a testament to curiosity, courage, and the joy of embracing the unknown. Her extraordinary stories (for example about the cow) reveal how stepping into unfamiliar spaces can expand our perspectives, dissolve fear, and connect us more deeply with the people around us. This conversation invites listeners to rethink their assumptions, stay open to surprise, and consider the life‑changing possibilities that appear when we choose adventure over certainty. What We Explore Embracing the unexpected and allowing life to unfold beyond our plansChoosing curiosity over fear when stepping into unfamiliar culturesCultural exchange as a foundation for empathy, connection, and personal growthQuote Dr. Monique Lewison “Go ahead, see, be inspired by these things. If you say yes to adventures- if you jump on adventures or invite yourself into them -the life you can live will be worth telling about later.” Book Launch Monique shares the heart of her upcoming memoir, Grab Life by the Horns, offering listeners a window into her extraordinary experiences as a veterinarian in northern Israel - a story of adventure, cultural connection, and choosing courage over fear. Episode 8, Isla Reddin, Reinventing joy and adventure

In this uplifting conversation, Zofia and Isla Reddin explore the powerful stories we tell ourselves - and how shifting those narratives can open the door to confidence, curiosity, and new beginnings. Isla shares practical tools for building confidence through evidence, embracing a beginner’s mind, and reflecting on the moments that prove we’re more capable than we think. You’ll hear real-life stories of bravery (including Isla’s move to Portugal), insights on why confidence and capability are not the same, and gentle encouragement to step into the unknown with curiosity rather than fear. This episode is a reminder that reinvention isn’t a crisis - it’s an adventure. About Isla ReddinFor more than 20 years, Isla has been driven by one question: What happens when we misunderstand the people in front of us? Growing up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, later moving to the US, becoming an educator, raising two sons, and coaching executives, parents, and young people - Isla has spent her life moving through very different worlds. Her work helps people look beneath behavior, challenge hidden assumptions, and understand what becomes possible when we respond to others as developing, capable human beings. She brings real-world stories, practical reframes, and questions that can change the direction of a conversation. Quote from Isla“It’s a great adventure. I mean… I think the need to reinvent ourselves consistently can be very scary. And on the other hand, if we can wrap our mindset around it and go, It’s okay, you’ve done this before, it’ll be okay, it’ll be okay. It’s an adventure - and it’s worthwhile.” Key InsightsConfidence is built on evidence - your past successes are proof you can handle what’s next.Embrace the beginner’s mind - curiosity opens doors fear would keep closed.Reflect regularly -visible reminders of your achievements recalibrate your self-belief.Take ActionIsla’s free resource helps you pause, step back, and reconnect with your teen through real, pressure‑free conversations: https://islareddin.com/real-conversations/ Connect with Isla: Website: islareddin.com Instagram: @islamreddin LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/islareddin Hosted by Zofia B PhotographyInstagram: @zofiab_photography Instagram: @joyfulbloomhub Website: www.zofiabphotography.com
