    Getting Your First 100K

    In this "walk and talk" episode, I share what I’d do if I had to start over completely from scratch as a dividend investor. First I'd start with my goal - which is to eventually live off the dividend income my portfolio produces, targeting about a 4–5% yield, so I’m not relying on selling shares like the traditional 4% rule. In the process, I’d reinvest every dividend to get the snowball rolling. We also chat about a famous Charlie Munger quote on doing whatever it takes to reach $100,000, because that’s when compounding really starts to accelerate, which I’ve seen in my own portfolio. To keep it simple, I wouldn’t buy individual stocks. I’d buy two dividend-focused ETFs: SCHD as my passive, quality dividend core, and Capital Group Dividend Value (CGDV) as an actively managed fund that tilts more toward growth/technology and has beaten the S&P 500 over the last year and three years.
