Welcome to UNFOLDING - A circular economy Podcast hosted Iain Gulland (former Zero Watse Scotland CEO) and Wayne Hubbard (former ReLondon CEO) exploring the current state of circularity progress and how we can all be part of accelerating the transition and take action to combat linear lock in. This is a podcast for policy makers, businesses, and citizens. In the first series of episodes we will be focusing on the upcoming COP31 in Turkiye in November, where the circular economy has been highlighted as a one of the core focus areas for action in the battle to reduce climate emissions. Iain and Wayne will be talking to a range of experts with knowledge of the COP process –who will give us their take on how national governments can incorporate circular economy principles into climate mitigation strategies, as well as the role of cities, business and governments. In November we will be going to COP31 in Antalya to try and influence the outcome!

    Episode 1: Discussion with James Close

    Welcome to (Series 1 - Episode 1) Unfolding: a circular economy podcast, hosted by circular economy experts Iain Gulland and Wayne Hubbard. In this series of podcasts Iain and Wayne will be examining how the circular economy can help to reduce carbon emissions and its inclusion in the COP31 'Action Agenda'. In doing so, over the course of the series they will discuss, the fight for a just and fair circular economy, the role of cities and communities, global trade, resilience and geo-politics and the role of the materials economy. In Episode 1 they have a discussion with James Close, formerly of the World Bank, ReLondon and most recently NatWest, about the COP process, as they try to understand how COPs work, what they do and how we can influence the discussions. In the discussion they refer to the the Sixth Climate Budget , which along with the Seventh and updates to parliament, over the course of the last 6 years, shows a change in how government views emissions associated with imported goods and services.
