Psalm 8 (Tyndale University — The Gathering)

Tyndale University — The Gathering · Psalms 8 “Who are you that God cares for you? He cares for every hair. How are you personally a reflection of this image of God? And I actually think we're each, like a special unique reflection of him. Like you have something that reflects him that I can know about God by meeting you and getting to know you that no one else could show me. How are you a reflection of God? Why does he count the hairs on your head? Why does he see you as a saint of the church. When I talk about Christians, I don't like to talk about worms or even I don't even like to say I'm a sinner saved by grace. I would say I was a sinner saved by grace, but sin doesn't define me anymore. Do I sin? Sure. Let's say I'm not a sinner in a sense of I don't sin, but I'm not defined by being a sinner. I am a saint of God. I am a holy one.” Passage: Psalm 8:4–5 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2026-10-22-psalm-8-tyndale-the-gathering

The Suffering of Job (Newlife Church Toronto)

Newlife Church Toronto · Job “And this leads us to the third thing that will hopefully give you some comfort, which is, in the end, God will make things right. His ways are beyond our ways. I will see my redeemer with my own eyes, Job says, and Christians have always taken that as a picture of him seeing the resurrection. The resurrection and what we call ultimate justice. Let's read Job 19:25. I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end, he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh, I will see God. I myself will see him with my own eyes. I, not another, how my heart yearns within me. This is Job realizing, someday I'll see God. Someday I'll get it. … Someday death will be defeated, We have a number of issues that we have to deal with as humans. We have to deal with sin, self, I'd say silence from God, what feels like silence, suffering, Satan, and finally death itself. The wicked will finally find retribution. There will be judgment. The innocent will find resurrection, eternal life, those who love in Christ.” Passage: Job 19:25 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2026-09-13-the-suffering-of-job-newlife

    The OT & Talmud

Sheridan Park Family Church · Matthew 17 “So I started asking myself a lot of questions, and then I started to see these questions pop up. I don't know if you've seen this : should we even call it Judeo-Christian culture? Should you just say Christian, get rid of the Judeo part of it? … And I'm like — the Ten Commandments are still Jewish. This is the kind of thing we are facing right now. That's why I'm passionate about trying to talk through it, and the question of the authority of what I'd call the Hebrew Scriptures is where you have to begin in order to deal with these complicated questions about the Jewish foundation of our faith as Christians.” Passage: Matthew 5:17–20 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2026-08-09-the-old-testament-and-the-talmud

The Suffering of Job (Sheridan Park Family Church)

Sheridan Park Family Church · Job “Now, some people say, easy for Job to say, he got all his kids back and his family back and everything. My argument back to that is, does that really fix the pain? … No. Job still has the scars of his family lost, but God can still give hope that even though you went through that suffering, you can still have joy again. It'll be a new joy. It'll be a joy with a lot more understanding of the possibility of suffering and the reality of suffering, but it'll be a joy nonetheless. This is why we have hope when things break, relationships break, families break, jobs are lost. There's hope that it will come again, and if not in this lifetime, in the future lifetime.” Passage: Job 42:10–12 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2026-07-15-the-suffering-of-job

The False Gospel of Cheap Grace

Sheridan Park Family Church · Matthew 7 “Physical needs matter. If you have a faith, but there's no deeds whatsoever, it's dead. It's not even real. … But their hearts didn't have true faith. Which is not just deeds, but it's a fruit of the Holy Spirit. We can claim we have faith, but we can just be kidding ourselves.” Passage: Matthew 7:21 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2026-03-15-the-false-gospel-of-cheap-grace-2

The False Gospel of Hard Work

Sheridan Park Family Church · Matthew 11 “We are followers of Jesus. We are in Christ. We are forgiven. We are children of God. We are saints, it says in Scripture. This is what gives us our worth and our value. Jesus chose you. … This is the identity of which we work. … Where you're feeling condemned. Now, one of the problems I want to make sure with this, I don't want you to feel condemned for feeling condemned. That's one of those things just ask for forgiveness. … Please help remove it. If you hurt someone, go and make it right. But we need to experience the freedom of forgiveness again. We need to experience the lightness of the yoke again.” Passage: Matthew 11:28–30 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2026-03-08-the-false-gospel-of-hard-work

    Unexpected Hope (Newlife Church Toronto)

Newlife Church Toronto · Ruth “But the important thing is that you don't just look for hope. … He wants to see your hope in action that you truly have faith in him. You are asked to act in hope. To actually move and take action based upon the hope that you have in God. … But more than that, when you see this beam of a gleam of hope, just act on it. Notice these two women, they're not just waiting around for something to happen. What they do is when they see opportunities arise, when a little piece of hope pops up, they act. … This is where Ruth's mother-in-law Naomi starts to recognize, wait a second, there's something going on here. We gotta take advantage of the hope that God has put in front of us. We gotta act on this hope.” Passage: Ruth 2:2–3 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2026-02-15-unexpected-hope-newlife

Unexpected Hope (Sheridan Park Family Church)

Sheridan Park Family Church · Ruth “So what's another important thing to recognize is we need to look for hope and that's not always easy, but one of the things that Christian needs to do in the midst of the darkness is look for that glimmer of light in the darkness and latch onto it. But that's not enough. You don't just look for hope and identify, “Oh, there's hope, Jesus.” We need to act in hope. Don't just stand there when you see the gleam of hope. Do something. Glean. … You need to recognize it's time to step forward.” Passage: Ruth 2:2–3 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2026-01-04-unexpected-hope
