Chris Ilitch’s weird statement, John Collins' choke, Lions' poor coaching and Kyle Whittingham’s mess

It's been a busy start to the week for Detroit sports. Andrew and Shawn open the show by discussing the Lions' disappointing first four games and explain why the coaching just simply hasn't been good enough (00:00-12:45). Then the guys talk about the statement from Red Wings owner Chris Ilitch, who took to social media (LinkedIn) to post about the start to the season after "SELL THE TEAM" chants broke out at the first game (12:45-25:03). Next, Shawn and Andrew discuss John Collins' viral debut with the Pistons, where he choked Suns forward Dillon Brooks. Plus, is Ausar Thompson's jumper real? And what would that mean for the Pistons? (25:03-32:59). And last but not least, the guys wrap up the show by discussing Michigan football's huge mess, the group message scandal with Zack Marshall, Kyle Whittingham's future and more.  Subscribe to the Free Press for all your Detroit sports coverage: https://www.freep.com/sports/ Listen to the full Podcast on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/freep-sports-show/id6808318589 Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5oggv0cAdOffBmAmWpVkEx?si=b862fefe688642f0 Follow on TikTok: @detroitfreepress Follow on Twitter:  @freepsports Follow on Instagram:  @detroitfreepress Check out Detroit Free Press for more: https://www.freep.com/ Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/freepsports Twitter:  https://x.com/freep #freepsportsshow #detroitfreepress

Is Jalen Duren-Pistons situation fixable? And is Scott Harris too stubborn for Tigers?

Happy Detroit Sports General Manager Day, to all who celebrate! Detroit Tigers president Scott Harris and Detroit Pistons president Trajan Langdon both spoke to the media on Monday for the ending and beginning of their respective seasons. Shawn and Andrew begin the episode by discussing the 2026 Tigers season that was by all accounts a disappointment. Was Harris too inclined to blame the lack of success on one month? Is he being too stubborn in his approach to not build at all through free agency? Plus, what does the future of Spencer Torkelson and other familiar Tigers look like in a big offseason? Then, the guys pivot to Detroit Pistons media day with Jalen Duren is still nowhere to be found. As the big man tries to decide if he should take the roughly $200 million contract the Pistons are offering, Shawn and Andrew discuss how a deal still makes sense for both sides, with Shawn pouring water on the idea that the situation is unfixable.  Subscribe to the Free Press for all your Detroit sports coverage: https://www.freep.com/sports/ Listen to the full Podcast on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/freep-sports-show/id6808318589 Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5oggv0cAdOffBmAmWpVkEx?si=b862fefe688642f0 Follow on TikTok: @detroitfreepress Follow on Twitter:  @freepsports Follow on Instagram:  @detroitfreepress Check out Detroit Free Press for more: https://www.freep.com/ Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/freepsports Twitter:  https://x.com/freep #freepsportsshow #detroitfreepress
