She discusses how California authorities removed her 15 year old daughter after she and her husband refused to "affirm" her as a boy or consent to testosterone and surgery. Alexandra describes how her family became entangled with schools, clinicians, child-protection authorities and the courts- and the devestating consequences of refusing to medicalize a vulnerable child. Her story raises urgent questions about parental rights, informed consent, child safeguarding and what happens when ideology is allowed to override the bond between parents and their children.

As an autistic, shy and gay boy, Jonni describes how he and his mother were steered towards puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. He recounts the intense pressures his mother faced, including a doctor's waring that she risked losing her son if she did not consent to medical transition. Now in the process of detransition as an adult, Jonni speaks openly about the lifelong physical health consequences he continues to live with, the lasting impact on his body and wellbeing, and what he wished more people understood about the experiences of young people like him.
