The recollections of the experiences of 3 women who had early stage (stage 1 or 2) breast cancer. Between the 3 of them, they have, or had, 4 breasts affected. They share their experiences navigating the whole experience from diagnosis, through treatment and to life after cancer. You’ll hear about the various treatments - chemotherapy, surgery, reconstruction, radiotherapy and hormone therapy. And, believe it or not, there are some funny recollections along the way.

    Ep 4 - Chemotherapy - what it's like

    Our 3 ladies discuss their experience with Chemotherapy. Mega – 6 cycles over 18 weeks Sharon – 6 cycles over 18 weeks Yuki – 4 cycles over 12 weeks They discuss what it was like for them (because everyone is different). They discuss the side effects: the insomnia, fatigues, changes to taste, the ebb and flow of constipation and diarrhoea, the nail damage, the fainting and loads more. And they offer some strategies that helped them.

    Ep 3 - How they told people they had the BIG "C"

    Our 3 ladies talk about how they broke the news of their diagnosis to family, friends and colleagues and the reactions that they got – some great, some not-so-great. They also talk about why they have maybe not shared their diagnosis with some people. They talk about some of the unhelpful things that people say– you won’t believe some of them! And they offer tips on HELPFUL things to say when someone tells you of a cancer diagnosis – and things to avoid saying.

    Ep 2 - Getting a Diagnosis

    The first step in any cancer experience is the diagnosis. Our 3 ladies talk about how they got their cancer diagnosis. They detail the tests they had – the mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, and even genetic testing – the whole process of getting to a diagnosis. And they discuss the short or long times that they experienced waiting for that diagnosis.  They talk about how they felt getting such life-changing news.

    Ep 1 - Introduction to the Tale of 4 T*****s podcast - meet the 3 ladies with the 4 t*****s

    This first episode tells you what this podcast is about. This is about the cancer experiences of 3 women who had breast cancer. They are real women sharing their very real experiences. We meet the 3 ladies who own (or owned) the 4 t*****s. Find out about these amazing women: Mega who had breast cancer and ovarian cancer at age 57 Yuki who had breast cancer at age 48 and Sharon who had breast cancer at 58. They all went on the cancer journey – or more accurately the cancer “adventure” and they compare their experiences to theme park rides –there’s the roller coaster, the coffee cups, the log ride and the haunted mansion! Which ride did each one go on? Find out! Who is this podcast for? It’s for people going through the cancer experience – there are some tricks and tips to help you along the way.  And maybe there will be points along the way where you realise you are not alone in this experience. It’s for people supporting people with cancer – get a feel for the experience from people who have been there, done that, got the t-shirt. And it’s for anyone who wants to understand the cancer experience from actual survivors. We hope that our experiences can help others in some way.
