Episode 2: LinkedIn updates, newsletter growth, burnout + floristry

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. Hello and welcome back to Scope Creep! In this episode we're checking in on the LinkedIn experiments we promised to report back on. Christine shares her (honest!) results from a few weeks of maxing out Sales Navigator connections. There are no new client projects yet, but there's a surprise partnership lead with a fellow agency owner. Victoria updates us on her £5,000 sales course investment and how it's shaping her product outreach. We also get into why thanking people is underrated networking, whether you can realistically make money on Substack, and why growing a newsletter organically is so hard. To wrap up, we get real about burnout heading into autumn: a therapist-approved coziness reframe, and Victoria's new floristry course (dahlia picking included). It's a reminder that marketing yourself as a self-employed person takes consistency, and feeling overwhelmed is completely normal.

Episode 1: Intros, location-independent work, culture + LinkedIn for sales

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. Hello and welcome to Scope Creep! In this (first-ever) episode we're getting into what freelance life actually looks like when you're scattered across time zones - with Christine fresh off a Manhattan sublet, and Victoria bouncing between London and Cape Town - as well as the very real struggle of building a client base somewhere new when your whole network is elsewhere. We compare notes on how Americans, Irish, Brits, and South Africans each handle being "sold to," and land on the same conclusion: relationships and patience beat the hard sell every time. We also chat about the LinkedIn lead-gen experiments we're each throwing money at right now. (Stay tuned for whether either of us actually makes it pay off!)
