The Book of Job: Trusting God in Suffering (Part 11)

In Job chapter 8, Bildad the Shuhite takes his turn to answer Job. His position is that God is perfectly just: suffering must come from sin, the wicked will eventually be destroyed, and the righteous will be kept safe by God. But even a true principle can do harm when it is applied too narrowly to someone who is hurting. In this lesson, we’ll look closely at Bildad’s argument and see why suffering and sin don’t follow a simple cause-and-effect pattern. We’ll also learn how to comfort suffering believers with truth, compassion, and love.

The Book of Job: Trusting God in Suffering (Part 10)

Job 7:1-21 takes us into the depths of Job’s pain and struggle. This episode asks: Why does life feel like a battlefield? Why do the days drag on so slowly in suffering? When we are sleepless, in despair, or even weary of life itself, can we still pour out our hearts to God? Though Job is in agony, he does not turn to Satan. He keeps crying out to the God who rules over all. This lesson also explores the meaning of prayer, the hope we have beyond death, and how to comfort those who suffer with wisdom and compassion. May we learn from Job’s experience to trust and obey God, in good times and in hard times alike.

The Book of Job: Trusting God in Suffering (Part 9)

Job answers Eliphaz out of deep anguish. He admits his words have been rash, yet insists that a sufferer's groaning is never without cause. Faced with friends who show no compassion and keep accusing him, Job longs to be understood and comforted. This lesson invites us to reflect on: Why does Job long for death in his suffering? Why do those who suffer need kindness rather than condemnation? Why is Eliphaz compared to a "deceptive stream"?How can we walk alongside those who are discouraged and weak? How do we keep looking to God in suffering, and use our words with care? May we learn from Job's experience not to rub salt into another person's wounds, but to be people who bring comfort, support, and hope.

| Understanding Dispensationalism (3) : Is God's Plan Unfolded in Stages?

Dear brothers and sisters, in this session, we begin with a basic question: why do we need theology at all? Then we'll see how God has patiently unfolded His plan through history, from shadow to reality, fulfilled in Christ. Finally, we'll bring these truths into everyday life: how to live as faithful stewards, how to look ahead to the coming kingdom, and how to let everything we do bring glory to God. Come listen, think, and pray with us.

| Understanding Dispensationalism (2) : Are Israel and the Church One People?

Are the church and Israel one people, or two? Brothers and sisters, it's a question that stirs strong feelings these days. In this class, we go back to Scripture itself: how do dispensationalism and covenant theology see it? Why should we be wary of replacement theology? And what do God's promises to Israel mean for us today? Come listen, think, and pray with us.

The Book of Job: Trusting God in Suffering (Part 8)

This session continues our study of Job 5 and moves into chapters 6–7, reflecting on suffering, discipline, blessing, and what faith really means. Eliphaz stresses God's justice, discipline, and blessing, but wrongly blames Job's suffering on sin. The session also examines the marks of Eliphaz's "hedgehog theology": his views contain truth, but they lack empathy and in the end cannot comfort Job in his pain. We then draw out some key theological lessons from the Book of Job: God is God, and we are not.We worship God because He is worthy, not only because He blesses us.Believers must learn to trust and obey Him fully. We live for God; God does not live for us.When someone is suffering, we should first feel their pain before offering counsel. In chapter 6, Job begins to answer Eliphaz, explaining that his words were rash because his pain was so deep. This session reminds us that when we comfort and counsel others, we need truth, but we also need love and compassion.

The Book of Job: Trusting God in Suffering (Part 7)

In Job chapters 4 and 5, Eliphaz tries to explain why Job is suffering, appealing to his own experience and a dream as his authority. This lesson explores: how do we distinguish personal experience from true biblical revelation? Does suffering always come from personal sin? When facing someone in pain, how do we avoid wrongful accusation and instead live out real compassion and comfort? We'll also reflect on God's greatness, and the common grace He shows to all through the rain He sends.
