Watch the extended youtube trailer here Scott Ferguson grew up in Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders surrounded by music. When his oldest brother left for college, the records stayed behind. Scott listened. He bought Technics with a student loan and played house parties, church halls and Gala Fairydean, the football club in Galashiels, where he DJ'd alongside Stuart McMillan, Darren Price and Andrew Weatherall. By 1992 he was playing north and south of the country and found his rooms in the Scottish underground dance scene: Edinburgh's Citrus Club, Carbolick Frolick and La Belle Angele. At Bomba Records he met Andy Williams, beginning a friendship and creative partnership that lasted 30 years. Body & Soul in New York changed how Scott heard clubs and records. In Glasgow he co-opened Defunkt Records with Colin Gate from Deep Sensation, then returned to London and started learning to produce. In 2012, an edit of Welcome to the Pleasuredome needed a name. Robot84 stuck. Greg Wilson played it at Bestival; Pete Gooding heard it, got in touch, managed him and brought him over to Ibiza for Pikes and sunsets at Hostal La Torre. Records followed on Nervous, Paper Recordings, Midnight Riot and Secret Life. DJ Harvey, The Blessed Madonna and Gerd Janson play his records. Arielle Free, Annie Mac & Artwork have championed him on Radio 1. Yet Scott has never stood in a club and heard one of his records played out. On Boxing Day 2022 he had an ischaemic stroke. From hospital in Gran Canaria, he sent out an edit called Robot84 vs The Raff — Get It Right Next Time that he had been sitting on. Jon Sa Trinxa played it at Café Mambo in Sydney in January 2023 and kept playing it, giving Scott confidence and focus as he learned to walk again. Then the loss of a lifelong creative partner hit hard. Scored with Scott's own productions, edits and remixes, the portrait brings together Bill Brewster, Colleen Cosmo Murphy, Pete Gooding and Jon Sa Trinxa, alongside Scott's family and friends, to tell the story of a life dedicated to music — the rooms, records, loss and recovery, new ways of working, and not holding back anymore.
