Addus HomeCare: The Complete History & Strategy

Addus HomeCare (NASDAQ: ADUS) built a billion-dollar home-care business in one of the most fragmented parts of healthcare. This episode tells the complete story, from founder W. Andrew Wright and the company's origins to private capital, its 2009 IPO, acquisitions, strategic mistakes, controversies, market exits and its current strategy. Along the way, we examine the economics of home care, Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement, geographic density, the caregiver workforce, acquisitions, competition and the operating decisions that shaped the company. This is the story of how Addus was built, what made the model work, where it broke down, and what its history can teach healthcare founders, executives, investors and operators. Research, corrections and additional material are available through the Folamont Intelligence newsletter at folintel.super.site.
