Season 1

  1. Episode 1

Noah Donohoe Episode 1: The Search for Truth

Noah Donohoe was 14 when he disappeared in Belfast in June 2020. Six days later, his body was recovered from a storm drain in North Belfast. In Episode 1 of Noah Donohoe: The Search for Truth, investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre and forensic physician Professor Jason Payne-James examine what the available forensic evidence can, and cannot, establish about the circumstances of Noah's death. They examine the condition in which Noah's body was found, the post-mortem conclusion of drowning, the absence of a water sample for comparison, documentation of the recovery scene and the injuries recorded on Noah's body. The episode also hears from Noah's family and from the funeral directors who prepared his body, as the series begins to examine the questions that remain around this case. 2. Episode 3

Noah Donohoe Episode 3: Inside the Storm Drain

Could Noah Donohoe have been found alive if the storm-drain search had progressed differently? In Episode 3 of Noah Donohoe: The Search for Truth, Donal MacIntyre and Jason Payne-James examine the Belfast storm-drain route where Noah's body was recovered six days after he disappeared. Donal enters sections of the drainage system to test what travelling through it would physically involve, examining the darkness, access points, manholes, light, sound and tidal conditions. Jason considers the effects that cold, water, injury and time underground could have had on Noah. The episode also reconstructs the search timeline: when the drain was identified as an area of interest. How sections of the system were examined. Why the presenters believe important questions remain about whether Noah could have been found sooner. Fiona Donohoe describes her concerns about the search strategy. The podcast also returns to the handprints discussed earlier in the series and examines alternative explanations for how Noah came to be where his body was recovered.
