Beyond the Bottle

Bryan Weisberg

Making great whiskey is only half the job. Beyond the Bottle is a podcast for the craft distilling industry about the other half: everything it takes to turn what's in the bottle into a brand people remember, buy again, and take home with them. Your host is Bryan Weisberg, founder of Thousand Oaks Barrel Company and DistilleryStore.com. For nearly twenty years Bryan has walked the floors of the major craft distilling trade shows, visited distilleries across the country, and worked alongside the people building this industry. If you've been in craft spirits for any length of time, there's a good chance your paths have crossed. That front-row seat is the reason for the show. Over two decades Bryan has watched people arrive at a trade show with nothing but an idea for a distillery and come back a few years later with a thriving brand. He has also watched genuinely talented distillers make outstanding whiskey and still struggle to turn it into a successful business. Beyond the Bottle exists to close that gap. Every episode takes on a question distillery owners eventually have to answer, whether or not anyone on the team has a marketing background: • How do you build a brand people actually care about, not just a label they recognize? • How do you design a tasting room experience visitors remember and tell their friends about? • How do you get your spirits behind more bars and onto more restaurant menus? • How do you create merchandise people genuinely want to own and wear? • How do you turn corporate gifting, private events, and branded products into real revenue? • And maybe most important of all: how do you stay in front of your customers long after the bottle they bought is empty? Bryan shares what he has learned from the inside: the programs he has seen work, the mistakes he has watched companies make, some of the mistakes his own company has made, and practical ideas craft distillers can put to work the same week. He also sits down with people from across the industry, from distillery founders and tasting room managers to distributors, designers, and retailers, to find out what's working for them right now. One thing this show is not: a podcast about how to make whiskey. There are plenty of people far more qualified to teach fermentation, distillation, and barrel aging. Beyond the Bottle is about what happens after the spirit is made. It's about the brand, the experiences, the relationships, and the business that surround the bottle, and about the customer rituals that turn a one-time visitor into a lifelong fan. Episodes are short, direct, and built for the people actually running the stills: owners, founders, tasting room teams, and anyone responsible for growing a spirits brand without a big-city agency behind them. Whether you're pouring your first batch or your hundredth, you'll leave each episode with something you can try. Beyond the Bottle is hosted by Bryan Weisberg and presented by Thousand Oaks Barrel Company and DistilleryStore.com, helping distillers build better brands, reach more customers, and grow their business beyond the bottle.
