Batman vs. Superman, Celebrity Casting & Backrooms | Absolutely #10

Batman’s parenting is on trial, the Robin rankings are causing problems, and Skootish has a Superman take Hassan wasn’t ready for. Hassan Khadair and Skootish celebrate episode 10 of the Absolutely Podcast with an agree or disagree game covering Batman vs. Superman, celebrity voice actors, Invincible, Chris Pratt’s Mario, Jeremy Jordan and The Greatest Showman, and whether movie stars still sell tickets. Why Are We Still Waiting for The Batman 2? Plus Primetime & The Odyssey

Is The Batman Part II still worth the wait—and do we even need two live-action Batmans? Hassan Khadair and Skootish debate the production pause, Matt Reeves’ sequel, the DCU’s Batman, and the increasingly long waits between movies and TV seasons. Then we’re getting uncomfortable with A24’s Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen. We discuss the film’s portrayal of To Catch a Predator, Skyler Gisondo’s standout performance, Phoebe Bridgers, and the uncomfortable line between exposing wrongdoing and turning it into entertainment. Pattinson also brings us back to Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. We disagree over Odysseus, Penelope, and how the film adapts Homer’s story—before Hassan calls his fiancée Cecily to weigh in. Plus: the Lanterns finale backlash, John Stewart’s Green Lantern oath, Clayface and Mike Flanagan, why Skootish hates Halloween, and Hassan’s ongoing argument with the AMC app. Absolutely Podcast — Episode 9Hosted by Hassan Khadair and Skootish. Spider-Man, Superman & Suits: We Can’t Agree | Absolutely #8

Is Suits actually good, or just incredibly bingeable? And how much of our love for our favorite movies comes down to nostalgia? Hassan Khadair and Skootish are defending their opinions—and questioning each other’s taste—in Episode 8 of Absolutely. The Suits argument gets personal before we revisit Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, talk Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and debate what makes a movie or TV show worth defending. Then we get into The Flash, Arrow, and the double standard around comic book accuracy. Why is Barry Allen borrowing Wally West’s personality acceptable, but Green Arrow borrowing Batman’s a problem? That takes us straight into Smallville, Zack Snyder’s Superman, and how much an adaptation can change before it loses what made the character special. Plus: Supergirl, Mike Flanagan and Clayface, Resident Evil and video game adaptations, the X-Men movies, and our disagreements over Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine. We finish with Young Justice, the original team, and why Nightwing deserved more of his own story. What’s a movie or show you’ll defend no matter what—and where do you think we’re completely wrong? We also get into Rick and Morty’s changing identity, American Dad’s surprisingly ambitious storytelling, revisiting The X-Files, and Hassan’s lifelong campaign to bring back Young Justice. Plus: Sal’s animated series pitch, a cease-and-desist over an unmade X-Men movie, and how Hassan ended up in a Terminator comic. Coyote vs. Acme Divided Us… And So Did Lanterns | Absolutely #4

Skootish loved Coyote vs. Acme. Hassan really wanted to. This week on the Absolutely Podcast, Hassan Khadair and Skootish review the Looney Tunes movie, argue over Lanterns Episodes 1–3, and get into Magneto’s future in the MCU. Is Coyote vs. Acme worth the hype? We talk Wile E. Coyote, Will Forte, John Cena, and why wanting a movie to succeed doesn’t mean you have to love it. Hassan ends up calling his fiancée to help explain his review. Skootish remains unconvinced. Then it’s Green Lantern time. We discuss John Stewart’s origin, Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan, and whether Lanterns’ slow-burn mystery is working. Skootish has a theory about Sinestro and Parallax. Hassan would like to talk about those shoulder pads. We also revisit Hassan’s viral Magneto tweet and the debate over adapting the character’s Holocaust backstory for the MCU’s X-Men while preserving Jewish representation. That includes a hypothetical Palestinian version of Magneto—not a confirmed Marvel announcement. Plus: Buddy, Star Wars prequel arguments, and your comments from the previous episode.
