THE WORK CREW

The Work Crew Socials: https://beacons.ai/theworkcrew What happens when you open the Gospel of Thomas with someone who's never read it before? In this episode of The Work Crew, TJ reads the Gospel of Thomas for the first time—and we barely make it through the first 18 of its 114 sayings before finding ourselves deep in questions about Jesus, consciousness, self-knowledge, the Kingdom of God, Gnosticism, spiritual awakening, death, and what these ancient sayings might actually mean. Unlike the narrative structure of the canonical Gospels, the Gospel of Thomas is presented primarily as a collection of sayings attributed to Jesus. And that's where things get interesting. We begin by looking at the text itself, its surviving Coptic manuscript, earlier Greek fragments, its association with the Nag Hammadi discovery, and the question of how Thomas relates to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Then we start reading. And almost immediately, the conversation gets weird. "Whoever finds the interpretation of these sayings will not experience death." What does that mean? Is Thomas talking about literal immortality? Spiritual transformation? Knowledge? Consciousness? Or something else entirely? We explore sayings about seeking, being troubled by truth, knowing yourself, the Kingdom of God being within and outside of you, becoming one, spiritual perception, fasting, judgment, and the relationship between the individual and the divine. Along the way, TJ reacts to these ideas in real time—which makes the conversation less like a lecture and more like two friends discovering an ancient text together. We compare several sayings with passages found in the Synoptic Gospels and discuss how similar traditions can sometimes preserve different emphases. We also reach one of the most fascinating questions of the episode: Why does the Gospel of Thomas sometimes sound so close to the canonical Gospels—and sometimes so radically different? Eventually, the conversation moves beyond the sayings themselves into Gnostic interpretations of Christ, the Pleroma, the Monad, the divine spark, gnosis, and the idea that Christ's mission could be understood as awakening something within humanity rather than simply providing an external solution to sin. And that opens an entirely new rabbit hole. One that we're going to have to come back to. Because there are 114 sayings. And we only made it to 18. 😂 This is Part One of our exploration of the Gospel of Thomas. We Tried to Make a Halloween Episode… It Went Off the Rails | The Work Crew

The Work Crew Socials: https://beacons.ai/theworkcrew 🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM THE WORK CREW! We put on costumes, grabbed a wand, dressed like a priest, broke a few props, and attempted to have a normal Halloween conversation. Naturally, things got weird. 😂 In this Halloween special, Chase and TJ kick things off with costume chaos, Harry Potter mishaps, improvised comedy, and plenty of Work Crew nonsense. But beneath the laughs, the conversation takes some unexpected turns. 👻 WHAT'S INSIDE THIS EPISODE? 🎃 The Strange Origins of Halloween — Samhain, disguises, All Hallows' Eve, jack-o'-lanterns, and the traditions that helped shape the holiday we celebrate today. 🍬 Trick-or-Treating & Halloween Myths — Why do we give out candy? How did the tradition evolve? And what about those creepy stories about dangerous treats? 🧙 Costumes, Pop Culture & Chaos — Harry Potter props, questionable spells, broken costume pieces, movie tangents, and the improvised comedy that makes recording this show an adventure of its own. 🧠 Identity, Humor & Personal Growth — How do the ways we respond to difficult experiences shape who we become? Can humor help us cope, and when do we need to put the jokes aside and face something honestly? 🦋 The Little Things That Matter — From difficult life lessons to the transformation of a caterpillar, we explore compassion, personal change, and the unexpected moments that remind us why life is worth paying attention to. 🌌 Consciousness, Reality & the Unknown — Because no Work Crew conversation stays in one lane for long. The Work Crew isn't about pretending we have every answer. It's about asking questions, challenging assumptions, laughing at ourselves, and being willing to explore ideas together. Sometimes that means discussing the history behind a holiday. Sometimes it means questioning how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Is the Soul Part of Something Greater? | The Work Crew Ep. 011

The Work Crew Socials: https://beacons.ai/theworkcrew What if exploring the Gospel of Thomas raises as many questions about Jesus, the soul, and reality as it answers? We're continuing our exploration of the Gospel of Thomas, working through its mysterious sayings and asking what they might mean. This time, we encounter the image of the five trees in Paradise, revisit the parable of the mustard seed, and explore one of the text's most intriguing ideas: making the two into one. But the conversation doesn't stop with the text. We dive into consciousness, the soul, the historical Jesus, the origins of Christian belief, and the difficult distinction between religious faith and historical evidence. We discuss why the words attributed to Jesus matter, how early Christian writings developed, and whether it's possible to value the teachings of a tradition while still questioning the history behind them. From there, we explore the Egyptian afterlife, the weighing of the heart, out-of-body experiences, Robert Monroe's work, dimensions, time, and the possibility that our everyday perception of reality is only part of a much larger picture. As always, we're not here to pretend we have every answer. We're reading, questioning, comparing ideas, and figuring things out together. 🔎 IN THIS EPISODE: • Continuing our exploration of the Gospel of Thomas • The five trees of Paradise and the meaning of permanence • The mustard seed and the Kingdom of Heaven • “Making the two into one” — unity, identity, and consciousness • Alan Watts, Zen Buddhism, and the idea of God within us • Is the soul a part of something greater? • Genesis, creation, and humanity's relationship with the divine • The divine council and questions about the biblical understanding of God • Religious identity, personal belief, and academic scholarship • Who wrote the Gospels, and what can we know about the historical Jesus? • Paul's writings, the Book of Acts, and his reported encounter with Jesus • The difference between historical evidence and religious tradition • Heaven, hell, the Egyptian weighing of the heart, and the Field of Reeds • Out-of-body experiences and the possibility of overlapping realities • Robert Monroe, time, dimensions, and consciousness • The philosophical perspective of Alan Watts and the meaning of life The Work Crew is about asking better questions, exploring different perspectives, and making room for honest conversation—even when the answers are uncertain. #TheWorkCrew #gospelofthomas #historicaljesus TIMESTAMPS 00:00 The Work Crew Is Back 01:00 The Handmade Cayman Jack Surprise 03:00 Podcast Branding, Sponsorships & Inside Jokes 07:00 Bloopers, Setup & Getting Ready to Record 08:40 Movie Trivia, Memory & Random Detours 14:25 Robert Monroe, Memory & the Nature of Time 16:15 Life Updates, Cars & More Work Crew Chaos 20:00 Money, Gambling & the High-Roller Question 24:00 Behind the Scenes: Cameras, Green Screen & Life 29:30 Speaking Our Minds & the YouTube Problem 33:35 Finally… The Gospel of Thomas 34:10 The Five Trees of Paradise 35:20 Stones, Permanence & the Meaning of Paradise 36:05 The Mustard Seed & the Kingdom of Heaven 36:55 The Field, the Thief & Guarding Your Consciousness 39:00 “Make the Two Into One” 40:10 Inner and Outer Reality, Identity & Unity 41:15 Alan Watts, Zen Buddhism & the Divine Within 42:35 What Is the Soul? 43:20 Consciousness, the Body & the Idea of a Vessel 45:25 Human Creativity, Art & the Image of God 46:10 Genesis, the Gods & the Divine Council 48:00 Buddhism, Religion & Searching for the Source 49:45 Religious Identity, Politics & Public Perception 52:45 Can We Separate Faith From Historical Evidence? 54:55 Paul, the Book of Acts & His Encounter With Jesus 57:00 Academic Scholarship vs. Religious Dogma 59:20 What Does It Mean to Call Yourself a Christian? 01:00:30 Who Wrote the Words Attributed to Jesus? 01:03:00 The Crucifixion, Jesus & the Question of Faith 01:04:15 Heaven, Hell & Different Possibilities After Death 01:05:45 The Egyptian Weighing of the Heart 01:06:25 The Field of Reeds & the Egyptian Afterlife 01:08:00 More Work Crew Detours 01:14:55 The Cayman Jack Sponsorship Dream 01:22:00 UAPs, Consciousness & the Search for Truth 01:25:00 The Soul, Out-of-Body Experiences & Other Realities 01:40:00 Shared Experiences, Consciousness & Perception 01:41:25 Are Time and Dimensions More Complicated Than We Think? 01:43:15 Alan Watts, Breathing & the Nature of Life Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-work-crew--7418793/support. UFOs, Hidden Civilizations & Reality Isn't What We Think | The Work Crew Ep. 010

The Work Crew Socials: https://beacons.ai/theworkcrew What if the mystery behind UFOs isn't just about what's flying in our skies—but about consciousness, perception, and the nature of reality itself? In this weeks episode, we follow another unexpected rabbit hole, starting with claims about recent conversations with David Grusch about reptilian beings, nonhuman intelligence, and a mysterious connection to the ancient Egyptian labyrinth. From there, the conversation expands into underground civilizations, unidentified aerial phenomena, consciousness, the human soul, and the possibility that reality may be far stranger than we currently understand. Could ancient stories about animal-headed gods have connections to misunderstood encounters? What do underground cities tell us about the ingenuity of ancient civilizations? Could advanced technology manipulate perception rather than simply hide an object from view? And what happens when we begin asking whether consciousness is fundamental to reality rather than merely a product of the brain? We don't arrive with all the answers. We follow the questions, challenge our assumptions, and try to separate what we can support from what remains speculation. IN THIS EPISODE: • Reptilian beings, Gray aliens, and other reported nonhuman entities • The ancient Egyptian labyrinth and speculative connections to underground mysteries • Underground cities, ancient engineering, and ventilation systems • UAP whistleblower claims and the ongoing debate around disclosure • Consciousness, perception, and the possibility of technological cloaking • Could nonhuman intelligence interact with human perception? • Ancient gods, mythology, and the possibility of alternative interpretations • The nature of the soul, death, and what might exist beyond physical reality • Human consciousness as a possible connection between mind and the universe • Microtubules, the brain, and theories about consciousness • The third eye, esoteric anatomy, sound, vibration, and frequency • Tolkien's mythology and what fantasy can help us imagine about immortality and other worlds That's what The Work Crew is about: not pretending we know everything, but exploring the questions together. If you enjoy conversations that move between history, science, spirituality, mythology, and the unexplained, join us for the next rabbit hole. 💬 QUESTION FOR THE CREW: If an advanced intelligence could manipulate what your brain perceives, how would you distinguish what is physically present from what you are experiencing? And where do you draw the line between an intriguing possibility and a claim that needs evidence? Drop your thoughts in the comments. We want to hear how you're thinking through it. Keep questioning. We Explored Consciousness… Then Things Got Weird | The Work Crew × Meta Mystics Ep. 008

The Work Crew Socials: https://beacons.ai/theworkcrew Meta Mystic Socials: Onlymystics.com The Work Crew meets Meta Mystics for the first time—and we quickly realize we've been asking many of the same questions. In this episode, The Work Crew joins Jonathan from Meta Mystics for a massive conversation about consciousness, ego, meditation, past-life regression, higher selves, reincarnation, Gnosticism, ancient Mesopotamia, UFO experiences, entities, psychedelics, altered states of consciousness, dimensions, vibration, manifestation, near-death experiences, morality, karma, and the possibility that our understanding of reality is much smaller than we realize. We begin by talking about something surprisingly difficult: How do you quiet the voice in your own head? That leads into meditation, the ego, time, grounding, and the strange feeling of stepping outside our normal perception. Jonathan then shares his experience researching Dolores Cannon and past-life regression, including the idea of communicating with a person's "higher self" and asking questions about why we're here, where we came from, and what this human experience actually means. From there, the conversation takes a hard turn into one of the biggest questions we've explored: Are we trapped in the material world? We discuss Gnosticism, reincarnation, consciousness, ancient Mesopotamian traditions, Enki and Enlil, and the possibility that different spiritual traditions may be describing pieces of the same underlying mystery. We explore reports of UFO and entity encounters, abduction experiences, astral experiences, different interpretations of these phenomena, and the uncomfortable possibility that experiences people describe as extraterrestrial might be interpreted through spiritual or religious frameworks instead. But we don't pretend to know. In fact, one of the most important themes of this conversation is discernment. What do we actually know? What have people experienced? What are we interpreting? What could be completely wrong? And how do we investigate extraordinary ideas without immediately turning them into certainty? We also explore psychedelics and altered states of consciousness, including ego death, the strange experience of losing track of time, and the question of whether these experiences reveal something about reality—or simply reveal something about our own minds. We talk about dimensions, frequency, manifestation, meditation, synchronicities, perception, consciousness, and the possibility that reality itself might be something far stranger than our everyday senses allow us to perceive. And then we come back to one of the biggest questions of all: What happens after this life? Is there a judgment? Is there karma? Is "hell" something external—or something we create within ourselves? What does it mean to live a good life if we don't know exactly what comes next? And perhaps most importantly: Why not be curious while we're here? This is our first collaboration with Meta Mystics, and we're incredibly grateful for the conversation. We didn't necessarily walk away with answers. We walked away with more questions. And honestly? That's exactly where we wanted to be.
