Ep. 6 “Six Raviolis & a Sexy Penguin”

This week on The 9:47 Podcast, we’re both tired, socially exhausted, and somehow that leads to one of our more ridiculous conversations. We talk about life with teenagers who now have jobs, cars, and schedules of their own, a family trip to Keene where fun is mandatory until you move out, and Bethany’s women’s retreat involving axe throwing, knives, archery, and flying cast-iron skillets. We also catch up on church life, forgiveness and healthy boundaries, what we’re reading and watching, and another date-night restaurant review. That date night leaves Micah staring sadly at a plate of six raviolis before making an even worse decision: telling his wife she bowls like a penguin. A sexy penguin, apparently. That clarification did not help. Plus, listener comments, social media updates, and the usual rabbit trails.

Ep. 5 “Sex, Horcruxes & Healthy Boundaries”

Episode 5 gets a little bit of everything. We talk about date night adventures, teaching our kids about money, bringing a reluctant teenager to the gym, Bethany’s rapidly growing $15 social media empire, and what’s happening with the business. Then things get a little deeper as we talk about friendship, boundaries, and whether choosing not to maintain a relationship is actually unchristian. And somehow that conversation eventually leads us to churchgoing couples, sex, and Micah explaining his theory that promiscuity is basically the spiritual equivalent of making Horcruxes. Yes, really. Plus: My Girl emotionally destroys our daughter, Bethany starts Red Rising, Micah continues his increasingly negative journey through We Are Legion (We Are Bob), we debate the best chicken, and revisit one of our favorite Indian restaurants. Just another normal night after 9:47.

Ep. 4 “ Teen Drivers, Modesty, and a $5,000 Check”

In Episode 4 of The 9:47 Podcast, Micah and Bethany talk about the joys and chaos of parenting older kids. Their son gets his driver’s license, one daughter starts going to the gym, and a job-interview outfit sparks a larger conversation about modesty, individuality, and knowing how to dress for the occasion. They also share updates from home, church, social media, and the family business before discussing the proposed $5,000 “Trump dividend,” government spending, bad healthcare experiences, disappointing movie sequels, Red Rising, lost books, local restaurants, birthday parties, and the ongoing debate over who talks more. Unedited, occasionally interrupted, and recorded well before 9:47.

Ep 3 “We Don’t Have Any Dead Bodies in Our Basement”

This week on 9:47, we talk homeschool chaos, teenage dating and saying “I love you” too soon, the strange pull of social media numbers, business stress, and a record-short sermon. Plus, an ancient warrior turns up in a junkyard, we debate food, movies, books, and music, and somehow end up discussing whether there are bodies buried in our basement.

Ep. 2 “Bulldozing, Bears, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua”

In episode 2 of the 947 Podcast, Micah and Bethany catch up on home life, homeschooling, business stress, church ministry, and their recent pastors’ retreat. They talk about feeling out of place around other pastors, worship styles, raising kids with a wide age gap, and the strange reality of living in a parsonage. The conversation also turns to 9/11, Charlie Kirk, cultural division, the role of the church in difficult times, and Micah’s idea for a future sermon series on Satan’s role throughout Scripture. And, because this is 947, things eventually spiral into bears, crying while listening to Bridge to Terabithia at 70 mph, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, talking-animal movies, terrible ovens, social-media fame worth about fifty cents, and Bethany accusing Micah of bulldozing the conversation. It’s faith, family, culture, and whatever else comes up before the clock runs out.

Ep. 1 “So… What Are We Calling This?”

Bethany and Micah are giving podcasting another shot, but first they have to figure out what to call it. In the first episode of The 9:47 Podcast, we introduce the idea behind the show and catch up on a typically busy week of marriage, parenting, homeschooling, ministry, and running a business. We talk about reorganizing the house, raising four kids, an engagement dinner, church life, payroll stress, movies, music, food, and why somehow the most important conversations always seem to happen around 9:47 at night. No scripts and very little editing. Just a married couple catching up on life once the day finally slows down. Real life. Real busy. Real love.
