Mind-Body Mondays

Peter Sanchez

What would it feel like to heal yourself instead of waiting to be fixed? Welcome to Mind-Body Mondays, a podcast on mind-body medicine, somatic healing, nervous system regulation, the gut-brain connection, and integrative nutrition. Host Peter Sanchez spent over a decade as a biomedical research scientist, including years at the Stanford University School of Medicine. After a health crisis forced him to turn his training on himself, he's now a graduate student studying the mind-body connection, chronic conditions, and how the body heals naturally. Each episode shares real-time research, gut-brain axis experiments, and holistic tools you can actually use. Topics include gut health, IBS, SIBO, SIFO, chronic stress, neuroplastic symptoms, nervous system desensitization, and vagus nerve dysregulation. No 50-step frameworks. Just real science, small yet profound changes, and what's actually working. New episodes every Monday. Subscribe wherever you listen.

From Stanford Biotech To Gut Recovery And Nervous System Healing

Send us Fan Mail My body didn’t “randomly” fall apart, it finally collected a decade of stress, skipped signals, and survival-mode habits and cashed the check. After a brutal health collapse that included severe chest and back pain, dangerously low intake, and a stomach polyp removal, I ended up dealing with gut dysbiosis, IBS, SIBO and SIFO symptoms, and a nervous system that felt permanently stuck in fight or flight. That moment forced me to stop treating my symptoms like separate fires and start looking at the whole system: gut health, immune function, blood sugar, pain, and the brain’s threat response. I’m Peter Sanchez, a former biomedical research scientist with years in Bay Area biotech and at Stanford School of Medicine. Ironically, all the lab training in the world didn’t protect me from chronic fatigue, dizziness, persistent back pain, POTS-like symptoms, elevated blood pressure, and a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. What finally moved the needle was zooming out into integrative nutrition and mind body medicine, then learning how nervous system dysregulation can sabotage digestion even when you’re doing “everything right” with food and supplements. We also dig into neuroplastic symptoms: real, physical pain and discomfort that can be generated or amplified by a sensitized brain, even when scans and standard tests don’t show a clear explanation. I share why this isn’t about imagining symptoms, it’s about understanding the gut brain axis and turning down the alarm system so the body can repair. You’ll get a practical tool you can try today: my 30-second pre-meal vagal trigger to shift toward rest and digest and support motility, stomach acid, and enzyme release. If this resonates, subscribe or follow so you don’t miss what’s coming next, share this with someone stuck in the chronic symptom loop, and leave a review so more people can find Mind-Body Mondays.
