Cassidy Bernard: The Silence That Stopped the Causeway

A mother cannot reach her daughter. Days later, Cassidy Bernard is found dead at home in Cape Breton, her infant twins alive beside her. Mara follows the evidence, the six-month undercover operation and the manslaughter conviction, then unpacks the eighteen-year sentence and the lives continuing in Cassidy’s absence. Dated national statistics and Nova Scotia’s recognition of intimate partner violence as an epidemic place the case in a wider context. Episode 10 of The Dark Between Tides. One female host.
