It's a Blue Tsunami! Here's What Happened on Election Week.

Lorenzo Gomez, LOOKOUT’s Elections Accountability Fellow, sits in for Joseph Jaafari on a post-election episode of the Roundup.  In Arizona, voters appear to have approved Prop 318, which bars trans students from girls’ sports teams and from school locker rooms and bathrooms that don’t match their sex assigned at birth, while rejecting Prop 144’s mail-ballot ID requirement. Democrat JoAnna Mendoza, an openly LGBTQ+ Marine veteran, unseated Rep. Juan Ciscomani in the 6th Congressional District, and Democrats are leading in enough races to possibly flip both chambers of the Legislature for the first time in about 60 years.  In Colorado, two anti-trans ballot measures remain too close to call as outside money keeps flowing to the campaign behind them, a fight over religious preschools and LGBTQ+ protections reached the U.S. Supreme Court, and GEO Group settled a 14-year forced-labor lawsuit from former detainees in Aurora. Nationally, a “rainbow wave” made history: Chris Pappas became the first openly gay man elected to the U.S. Senate, Sarah McBride won reelection, and Georgia and Alabama elected their first out trans state lawmakers. Vermont added gender identity to its constitution and Missouri voters rejected Amendment 3, but trans sports measures in Nebraska and Washington were leading, with Washington’s on track to become the first such law approved directly by voters in a blue state. Plus, New Hampshire families of trans youth ask a federal judge to block a Trump administration rule cutting Medicaid coverage for gender dysphoria treatment. Support the show
