The Art of Finding Joy Where You Are.

You don’t need to change your entire life to begin changing your relationship with it. 1. Acknowledge where you are. Describe your present situation honestly, without pretending it’s better or worse than it is. 2. Validate what you feel. You can feel disappointed, afraid, or frustrated without judging yourself for having those feelings. 3. Say thank you for something real. Find one thing you genuinely appreciate, even if the larger situation remains difficult. 4. Notice your self-talk. When you catch yourself making a sweeping judgment, try describing what happened more accurately and compassionately. 5. Choose your next step. Ask what you can do, what you need to accept for now, or where you might need support. 6. Allow yourself some joy today. Don’t make enjoyment conditional on having solved everything. You can simply begin by meeting yourself and your life with a little more honesty, appreciation, and possibility. The life you’re hoping to build is still ahead of you. But the life you’re living is here now. Don’t miss one while working toward the other. This is a public episode.
