Jesus Changes Everything | The Woman At The Well

The sermon centers on the Samaritan woman’s encounter with Jesus in John 4. The preacher explains that Jesus’ route through Samaria was not the usual one for Jewish travelers, who often avoided the region because of longstanding hostility between Jews and Samaritans. Jesus nevertheless meets the woman at a well, crossing social barriers related to gender, ethnicity, and her reputation. Jesus offers her “living water,” using the image of water to describe the lasting satisfaction and spiritual life he gives. The woman’s history of five marriages and her current relationship show that he knows her story, yet he speaks to her with grace rather than shame. The sermon applies this image to the things people turn to for fulfillment, noting that they cannot provide lasting satisfaction. It teaches that God seeks people and that true worship is not limited to a particular place, but is in spirit and truth. After Jesus reveals that he is the Messiah, the woman leaves her water jar, returns to the town, and tells others about him. Many believe because of her testimony. The preacher connects her response to sharing one’s own story of how Jesus has changed one’s life, and points to Jesus’ death on the cross as the means of forgiveness and the removal of shame. The practical invitation is to bring shame and unmet needs honestly to Jesus, trust him for lasting hope, and respond to him in faith.

Jesus Changes Everything | The Sick Woman

The lecture focuses on two accounts in Luke 8: Jairus, whose young daughter is dying, and a woman who has suffered from bleeding for twelve years. Though their circumstances and social standing differ, both are desperate and turn to Jesus. The speaker explains that healing is not the central aim of Christianity, since physical healing is temporary. He describes healing as an expression of Jesus’ compassion, a sign of God’s kingdom breaking into the present, and, in biblical times, a way to authenticate God’s messengers. The woman is considered unclean and isolated, but when she touches Jesus, she is healed. The speaker emphasizes that Jesus does not let her disappear back into the crowd: he invites her to speak, calls her “daughter,” and tells her to go in peace. Her encounter illustrates that Jesus overcomes impurity and offers more than healing: faith in him brings relationship, adoption, and reconciliation with God. The speaker urges listeners to seek Jesus himself, not only the things they hope he will provide. While Jesus is speaking with the woman, Jairus learns that his daughter has died. Jesus tells him not to fear but to believe, and Jairus continues with him. At the house, Jesus takes the girl by the hand and raises her. The speaker interprets Jesus’ words that she is “sleeping” as a way of teaching that death is not the final word for those who trust in him. Grief remains real, but resurrection hope shapes how Christians face death, tragedy, and unanswered prayers. The lecture concludes by pointing to Jesus’ own resurrection as the lasting answer to death—not simply more time or temporary healing. It calls listeners to trust in Christ, the resurrection and the life, and to hold to God’s goodness in both life and death.

Jesus Changes Everything | Paralyzed Man

The sermon is part of a series on how Jesus changes people’s lives. Using the story of the paralyzed man in Mark 2, the speaker focuses on the four friends who carried him to Jesus. When the crowded house kept them from getting inside, they opened the roof and lowered their friend down. The sermon describes their persistence as an example of friends helping friends reach Jesus. The speaker draws four observations from the story: the friends came expecting Jesus to act; those already inside did not make room for the outsider; making space for others can be costly but worthwhile; and Jesus responded to the faith shown by the friends and the man. The congregation is encouraged to notice newcomers, welcome people who may feel like outsiders, and persist in praying for and inviting others. As a practical application, attendees are invited to write the names of people they are praying for on the floor of a new church space. The sermon then turns to Jesus’ response to the man. Jesus first forgives his sins, then heals him, demonstrating his authority to forgive. The speaker emphasizes that spiritual reconciliation with God is a person’s greatest need, while affirming that physical healing matters and can still be prayed for. He illustrates this with his father’s long illness and death. A story about the speaker’s young daughter becoming lost during a family vacation reinforces the call to seek those who are spiritually lost. The sermon concludes by reminding listeners that they are also like the man on the mat: unable to save themselves, they depend on Jesus, whom the speaker identifies as the story’s hero.

    Jesus Changes Everything | Zacchaeus

This message opens a new series on how Jesus changes lives, centered on the claim that Jesus loves people as they are but does not leave them unchanged. The speaker explains that the coming weeks will focus on gospel stories that show Jesus meeting different kinds of people and transforming them. The main text is Luke 19:1–10, the story of Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus is described as a wealthy chief tax collector who is hated because he cheats people and works for Rome. Unable to see Jesus because of the crowd, he climbs a sycamore tree. Jesus stops, calls him by name, and invites himself to Zacchaeus’ house, showing personal attention and acceptance. The crowd grumbles because Jesus goes to the house of “a sinner,” but Zacchaeus responds with repentance. He promises to give half his goods to the poor and repay anyone he defrauded fourfold. The speaker emphasizes that this change comes from God’s kindness, not from a demand for the minimum. Jesus then declares that salvation has come to Zacchaeus’ house and says that the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost. The sermon closes with three applications: Jesus is often the one seeking us, grace moves beyond bare minimum religion, and following Jesus means leaving an old life behind.
