    People love to say we all have a choice. But what if how much choice you have depends on what you have, and on how other people see you? In the first episode of the TDC Podcast, I talk about the line of survival: the line most of us never see, between getting by and actually getting to choose. I've lived on both sides of it, as someone with the career and the seat at the table, and later as a trans woman who lost her job, was beaten on a New York street and ended up homeless.
